ICP plus observation might train you if, say, your coral is fading, meaning you might be low or high on something.

The moult that freaked me out the most was porcelain crabs because they have the fans still on them. First couple times I thought the crab was dead but luckily they were all good.

its crazy how much of a replica the molt stays

Thanks Deven! It is funny you mentioned tank smells. I thought my tank was starting to smell a little. Discovered it was my daughters hockey bag instead. Good to go!

Increasing light eventually leads to a point of diminishing returns, and you begin hurting coral more than helping. Like any other animal you should reduce nutrients to get corals to expand, open, and color up (given water chemistry is on point), otherwise, increase nutrients to increase growth (also given water chem is on point).

Very interesting , my corals are very pale. And my phosphate are near 0, My concern is algae, I seem to have a thicker red algae that I have to blow off my rocks an sand bed every day.. I can’t seem to figure out why or how to get rid of it even with low nitrates and phosphates, have been running carbon an GFO, which I would like to discontinue somewhat to raise phosphate.any ideas ?keep up The great videos

Thicker red algae sounds like cyano. pale corals could be from lack of nutrients (i have also heard that 0 or low nutrients/swings can cause cyano.. may be related) It may be worth easing off the gfo/lowering flow or feeding more to up nutrients a bit. (assuming they are actually 0)

ReefDudes thanks yea might treat for Cyno just not sure because it’s so thick and on the rocks as well as the sand bed. Then do a water change and remove my filter sock, give it a whirl see what happens..

I have some major problem that started when my salinity dropped to 1020. after a week in that water they didint look bad so I notice it when I did my weekly water change and my refractometer was off. I thought i uped tha salinity with my new hanna checker but not so sure if my hubby set it wrong or if it just wont hold the salinity, so they start dying, then ammonia nitrites, then nitrates rising, I just keep waiting and adding bacteria beacuse thats what i was told to do on reef to reef. I added microbe special care which is sulfer and supposed to be teamed with microbe lift last nigh. My salinity is holding so I dont know if that means things are getting better and my hubby didi calibrate it wrong or what but it 1026. Maybe they are to far gone because i am keeping it down with prime but is that also preventing me from cycling? I have lost 8 frags now! Beautiful brand new frags! Maybe thats what started it all is I shocked my system adding 18 frags! My other tank is to new. I am afraid that tank will crash if I add them and I dont want to get off to a bad start wit it. I am still keeping lights off like I did with my 10 gallon and before this I never had a speck of algae now. I have some on rocks and in the sand a little. like some marbilng in the sand that I just noticed when I turned whites on! Do I start a emergency tank? It wont be cycled. I can start it with bacteria nd I have an xtra light and small 5 gallon or a 20 long. My favorite 2 corals still have a little life. They were the only big ones I have a 10 head duncan, its long like a tree and the polyps are down to the skelton and moving up. I still have 5 left that are alive. I s there hope for that? My two head torch still has some tentacles but mostly down to skeleton. Is there hope for that and the rest are hanging on the softie look the best but wont open. Is this futile and Ineed to reboot? I dont know what to do with corals except go ahead and add to my other tank but I dont have my radions I am fixing to order but I have a current orbit I can use until then. Plus a small current as well so 2 of them but one is only 20 inches long and the other is 30 and tank is 30 wide. What would you do? My hubby has promised me all new corals lol since he more than likely calibrated it wrong but I have taken over that task..lol I was just busy changing water or something and it was brand new so I thought he could be of some help. I almost did it again when I changed water out 3 days later. Should I keep doing water changes. Sorry I know this isnt a answer form but reef2reef s advice not working! Please help! Love your channel. I watch all your videos. You and brs!

I want to add I am new at this and to much to soon. I had 4 frags before 2 zoas and 2 acans, and none of them had grown. I know nothing about alk really. i did have it go from 8 to 10 after water change. O dont dose anything. Its a ten gallon no skimmer. I do weekly water changes but brs said I need to match alk when I do a water change and I dont get that. Do I try to keep it at what ever number it wants to stay at and with what? I am changing to a fluval evo AIO so I have room for a skimmer but so many said I shouldnt and do weekly water changes and use that xtra area for xtra media. What do you think? Its out of stock everywhere. Plus dont want o aclimate them to a new light. I won those corals so thats why I added so much at once. SOme I paid but most I won from Unigue Corals. I was the winner of their live sale. I held the order for months but finally went with it!
