I am actually having a lot of fun this season playing wow the wrong way, going it alone and just doing heroics and LFR, putting on some videos in the background. There is a clear path with weeks of upgrades to get to 460-470 chilling out and playing solo. It might not be the best version of wow gameplay but im really enjoying it right now.

I think it's less that it's cause we want to never deal with others and more that sometimes we just wanna relax and do stuff ourselves, but since wow has really bad vanity rewards for stuff, power is the only thing reason to do this stuff... outside of completionists. The one thing I think D4 did well was adding emotes as quest rewards just like FF14 has done for ages with good results, even gw2 has started doing it. So I think if wow pot more effort into new dances, funny emotes and toys for players as end rep rewards, it's be much more of a pull when solo than gearing an alt (or your main if you're open world only). Everybody loves a silly dance or emote that others might not have while waiting in front of a boss or are afk in the main hub.

I don't have the energy for raiding and I don't want to commit only to quit for a bit later on. So M+ and crafting are ideal for me. The 24/7 players can do their 99% percentile logs in mythic raiding and get their top gear.

Honestly, my biggest issue is how serious people take the game. You can't join groups cuz everyone expects you to know absolutely everything about the dungeons beforehand. There are so few people that accept someone that is trying to learn.

Im normally a classic player but i've done my first Mythic +17 today on my evoker and working on gearing up my feral druid. It's a lot of fun. That said the crafting stuff is a bit confusing but this cleared it up a bit and definitely makes me think that crafted gear is the best way to gain some easy ilvl. Even +5's people don't want to invite lower ilvl people even though it isn't necessarily difficult.

It’s funny because whenever I make an alt, my general rule of thumb between 1-14 levels is that pretty much everyone is going to suck in this range. I don’t really start getting picky until 18s, and I won’t start caring about IO until I start actually pushing past 20.

Another gear source right now are the World Bosses from the anniversary event. The gear drops at 441 Ilvl on the veteran track, bosses have a chance of dropping trinkets and the armor can be used in the catalyst for season 3 tier sets.

I remember...In Burning Crusade *stares off into the distance as a flashback ensues* The easiest way to get epic gear (without group/raid content) was to farm over 100 battleground victories. Victories. You had to win the BG in order to get the token. Then you'd spend 10-30 tokens on a single piece of gear that was equivalent to about Tier 4 at the time. You could only get the major pieces. Arms, legs, chest, boots, helm and weapons. And the pieces were PVP gear; meaning they sacrificed one major stat for the Resilience stat. People referred to this as "welfare epics." because of how "easy" they were to get. I wonder what those old snobs would say about the loot system now lol.

Bruh, as someone who just came back after stopping DF last November, this video is still overwhelming. What I heard was, crest, crest, then this crest, to get that crest, then get this crest over here, craft that one then this one, then crest over here to craft over there. Im like wtf?!?!??? LOL. Orb thing during Dream Surge is not a bug, it’s just that they spawn on top of each other so you basically can pick up 10 orbs that look like 1.

get in a seed farm group and use blossoms (and seeds if you have them) - you can get a few hundred flightstones and ~20-30 Drake crests in 20-30 minutes depending on if your group is doubling up on planted seeds at the same time or not

Dungeons, quests, seeds, superbloom, disturbed dirt piles, expedition packs, just to name a few. There are lots of options, some more lucrative than others. It depends on how much time and motivation you have and what type of content you like doing. Also, being selective about what pieces you spend them on can save you a lot of stones in the long run. Lots of pieces come already partially upgraded anyway. Also, when you upgrade a piece in a slot, that upgrade will be cheaper for an alt upgrading the same slot.

This is the best time to play WoW since legion. You have to many different ways to progress playing the content you want, play with your friends regardless of server and faction barriers. Incredibly easy to level alts.

The three weekly quests for higher ilvl gear. All rewarded me with the same gloves... which were the same ilvl as the reputation gloves. None of the world boss or event bosses dropped anything for me. This week sucked ass for the mage my guild asked me to gear up to fill a raid slot. And I've ran 22 mythic+ dungeons and only gotten a single item to drop. I've lost my raid slot for next week due to not raising my ilvl in time. And I've officially wasted a whole week trying to gear a new max level toon. It feel bad.

One thing that seems missing for solo and open world players is the availability of Champion-track gear. In Season 2, we could get Champion gear from the weekly Heroic dungeon quest and from Researchers Under Fire when the season first launched. The Weekly Vault dungeon row (which was intended to be a replacement) only awards Veteran-track gear for Heroic dungeons. Hopefully 10.2.5 or later patches will introduce Champion gear so that crafted gear won't be our only option for iLvl 476.

Almost any approach can work, as long as you pay attention to how major player groups operate and don’t screw one in catering to the other. Regardless, it takes a significant time investment to upgrade gear without the harder content, so it’s hardly “a handout”. On that topic, what is “hard” can be subjective… there are plenty of people who just raid log (or key log), doing the absolute minimum that allows them more raid/key logging. Give a lot of these people a 3 month open world quest grind and they will come apart at the seams… it is literally too hard for them to do, despite requiring nothing more than patience.

Question....does it matter if you max out an item before using the catalyst? Or, best to convert the item then use the currency on it to max it out?

The item will retain it's ilvl and tertiary stats (like Indestructible or +speed, for example) when it's upgraded in the Catalyst, so strictly speaking there's no difference between upgrading it before or after converting it. The only reason to upgrade after converting is if you want to unlock more recolours for transmog. If you have a piece of 441 gear, upgrade it to 453+ and then convert it, it will unlock the Normal raid colour. But if you convert it at 441, it will unlock the LFR colour, and then unlock the Normal colour after you upgrade it to 453+.

Those green balls gives you 2 crests when you fly through them. If you get more this might be a bug that they tick more than 1 time. This is rare though.

I'll tell you exactly what is missing, when you get to convert a piece from the catalyst to tier piece and then you go do an M+ and you get the exact slot item in the end of it which is the same ilvl BUT in the next upgrade tier, so if you want to convert that item to a tier gear through the catalyst you have to wait another week AND if you aren't lucky enough to get enough tier pieces so you can use their bonuses, again you are stuck 1 week behind. This literally happened to me today. This shouldn't happened in this very specific case only(when the ilvl is the same i mean), you should be able to upgrade the new item to tier set with no charge, only in this case. I guess Blizzard hasn't thought of this one.

I think when you got 42 it had been messing up and respawning the same orb so there were 21 copies in the same exact spot. It was happening before and each would register as a single pickup so the chat box would explode. In 10.2 it seems to show the crests combined.

I keep getting duplicates for the weeklies. I really enjoy the new zone and content, but it's pretty discouraging to open up that loot chest and see the same thing drop multiple times. And the weekly cycle doesn't seem to matter. I quit doing the 5 heroic dungeon weekly because on 5 different characters I was getting the same pieces of gear week after week, which is only worth between 50-150 gold or an enchanting mat. It's not enough by itself to stop me from playing, but it sure makes a huge tick in the dissatisfied column and it wouldn't take much more to make someone set WoW aside in favor of another MMO, some of which are F2P. That and there seems to be a lot of broken systems in the content from Dragonflight in general. Before, I only opened 2 or 3 tickets my entire time playing WoW from the start of BC, now I'm on my 3rd in as many months. From broken digs in Zaralek Cavern that won't let you finish or cancel the dig to timerift tokens awarding 0 loot. It was the one for the mount that I had grinded rep for that almost made me quit. That and every ticket getting passed off to 'submit a bug report', which essentially means you're just out of luck and have nothing you can further do about it, other than reluctantly click the 'resolved' button so you can stop the ticket banner from obscuring your buffs. Kelani does cover the best current sources of gear and latest content and this is my go-to channel for WoW.

It's the basic "blue" crafted gear that can be upgraded to 447 using the nascent welpling crest. Don't search for the epic ones you get from the specializations because they require sparks.

I like the new system, allows for easy gearing of alts and returning players (like myself) but they still need to work in making it more visible and understandable to the player. The fact that everything is named "crest" and the icons are very similar between the different levels doesn't help. Alas, a minor gripe, but still a huge improvement to the game all in all. I loved Dragon flight season 1. Got Bis gear and max IO for item upgrades. I had 0 idea that the season updates raise Item level, devalue my gear, and change BIS. All my work was useless and I can’t get into any groups now. I thought gear is good the entire expansion. Seems like a complete waste of time for me to do all that again.

It's not as simple as three pieces of gear a week from the annual dream stuff as it's completely RNG I think my bad luck record was seven weeks in a row getting items I already had, Them for the world boss and the dream I believed my bad luck record there is four times the same item and six times where no item dropped at all, As for crafting you can only craft your 475 And you can only wear two at a time Otherwise very good video and pretty accurate

My hunter is getting up there LFR raids got me 2 set pieces so far which is nice and world boss gave me something too. Just gotta keep hacking away. Got the dragon tamer book so thats neat but I wish I had more of a selection than butterfly geckos, at least more colors like the black and blue one.

Most annoying of this content is the flightstone grind. the drops are low and you need a metric fuckton of them. It totally keeps me from leveling alts YET AGAIN... How much hours do they think a day has?

@@alanwelch9216 Correct, you don't need a spark since its the basic "blue" crafting gear that you are upgrading with the whelpling crests enchant item.

I dont get how you get crafted gear so high , the max crafted gear with spark of dreams is 463, nobody can make me higher ilvl gear

To get above 463 you need an optional reagent called an Enchanted Dreaming Crest, which is different to the Dreaming Crests currency (I know). An Enchanted Aspect's Dreaming Crest can push crafted gear as high as 486, but you need Aspect's Dreaming Crests to craft it, which come from mythic raid or M+ 16 keys and up.
