Some years ago I saw a Graham Norton show and there was this girl singing a catchy song. I had no clue who she was. With almost no makeup, t-shirt tucked down her jeans, I thought she had resurrected from the 70’s. Wait, what? Sigrid? Her name is Sigrid? And then it dawned on me that this “time traveler” had to be Norwegian and I got so proud and still is. She’s so talented! Have you heard Strangers or Don’t kill my vibe? I used to sing along but when my dog packed his food bowl, blanket and favourite toy I knew I had to shut up.

Her performance of Home to You (Lindmo 2020) is really lovely too. She writes pop songs with some ridiculously catchy hooks. Sucker Punch and Don't Kill My Vibe are two great examples. There's just something about how female Norwegian singers shape their vowels when singing in English that makes them sound so unique and endearing.

Some of her inspirations are Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, and... Adele. “Sigrid’s vocals had a distinctive natural rasp, but a voice coach encouraged her to embrace it rather than soften it.” Props to her voice coach, it really does add a lot to her music. Thanks for the reaction! Sigrid has numerous great songs, including a few rap covers! :)

You made someones day today! And I'll tell you, if you had reacted to the acoustic version of this little pearl of hers, you would have herd more of that lovely "rasp" in her voice. If Aurora is "the Fairy" Sigrid is the "living-next-door, down-to-earth" Norwegian singer and songwriter who just want to be "Basic" (Live performance) Vevo . Born in 1996 just like Aurora. Her first single came out in 2014. It was called "Known You Forever" ( live at Ocean Sound studio ). Her international break through came 2017 with "Don't Kill My Vibe" ( Acoustic ).Yepp acoustic again to be able to hear the "raspiness" in her voice but also for her cool attitude in this version.

Hi, Mike and Ginger, thanks for visiting Sigrid. Her pop-music is a kind of different from the mainstream and sometimes it needs several listenings. Your respectful listening is beautiful. Sigrid (24-25) won the BBC sound of 2018. Other winners from the past: Adele, 50 cent, Sam Smith, Ellie Goulding... She is the first artist outside UK and America to win the award. Her songs can be vulnerable and an explosion of feelings. Her concerts are known for «feeling good vibes» and energy on the stage. Her music is empowering, and she is just herself….in jeans everytime! Recommand Live on stage at BBC Radio 1 Big weekend 2019- feeling good vibes😊 This is why crowds loves her! Sigrid has an amazing live vocal just as Aurora 🙂 Sigrid was the winner of BBC sound of 2018. Other winners are Adele, 50 cent, Ellie Goulding, Sam Smith and many more. Sigrid is the first winner that is not from either the UK or America. The winners are voted by people in the music industry, on who they feel is the next big artist that year.

Sigrid is GREAT! I love her "girl next door" look. Normally on stage there is t-shirt&jeans...... The best performances, for me, is just her and the piano... is it perfect? Maybe not? A vocal teacher has to tell me, sounds perfect to me... and than again: what is perfect? Did Leonard Cohen have a perfect voice? Do I love his songs: of yes... Here are a few suggestions: Concert from her parents house - at her mother's birthday !!, camera (phone) on some boxes, her + piano = wonderful ! 3 songs: Sucker Punch, Basic (request from her mother, starts at 06;00) and Home to You (starts at 10;30) - you will also hear AND SEE what "Home to you" is about.. ! I think Home to you will be the best choice. kzbin.info/www/bejne/opepeaJon7qbg6c Sigrid at Paste Studio NYC live from The Manhattan Center, with her keybordplayer Martin, and Christina (AMAZING backup singer...). 3 songs: High Five, Raw og Strangers (timestamp in main comment of the video). I think Raw is the best choice of these 3. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqWYqpp6mt10eas

Hey! Welcome back to Norway😊 And thanks for another nice reaction. Been following you for a year now.I have tried many times to suggest a really good norwegian sing/songwriter named Ina Wroldsen. But maybe you have to be a patron to be heard? But if you hear me this time, pleace react to this beautiful performance of an artist who deserves a lot more attention than she gets! She wrote this song after wisiting a hospital in Rwanda. She went there with a norwegian organisation called "Plan" that helps children all over the world. On this hospital she met a little boy named Peter and his mum. It is a powerfull song about that meeting. She also have a nice live performance of her song "Strongest"(Live from Spellemann) I would recomend you to listen to. Something tells me that you would love these songs Ginger? So come on folks! Listen to yet another norwegian female artist and you soon get an invitation to be a norwegian viking 😉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqDOZX9_fsuDmqM

Why does everyone have to be compared? "Who does she remind you of?" Just let them be themselves, they are individual artists but you keep looking for a comparison.

I also hear the Adele vibes. Isn't it amazing how all these artists can speak and sing in English so so well? What a difference from singers from this side of the pond. I don't think you ever reacted to a singer named Lara Fabian. She is originally from Quebec and sings in French. Her song, Je Suis Malade is just incredible. If you haven't already done so, I would highly recommend her!

We did that one. I took it down because her fans did not appreciate our humour and I got tired of the insulting comments. She was great, and I’d love to do more, but I’m not eager to wade in with a fan base that makes me walk on eggshells. - G

they have almost 500 videos on their channel, and maybe 20-25 reactions to Norwegian artists? so I dunno about always, but it might seem that way if they’re enjoying a particular artist/band...like Kalandra, and uploading several reactions in a short time frame. I usually see people reacting to Angelina Jordan and Aurora, and then starting to discover other talented Norwegian artists. which is great, word of mouth at its best. 😀
