So I downloaded the Sirvend Management mod, and it is hilarious! Some of my favourite quotes (not perfectly word for word but close): "That's it! If I see ONE of you flossing, I'm closing down the bar." "Reinforcement inbound! Wait, that's not a miner, but a supply pod?! Then where the hell did he go? Oh, sh.....!" "Management wants you to go down to do some blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda. Just do it and make it back okay?" "Hey, we have a dwarf who has been missing from anger management class. Actually according to the reveal video R&D didn't actually produce the LOK1. Engineer designed the LOK1 and management cleared it for use.

I love the lok with rj250 the most because it allows you to accurately shoot targets while moving at the incredibly high speeds that come with rj250. Feels pretty awesome.

@@JackofNothingess if you don’t like the rj250 build in this vid try this one: 1 2 1 2 1 It features more damage and aoe but with less ammo at 15 rounds. Fire will burn anything to a crisp because it has no area falloff unlike the straight area damage mods. Edit: you will also might want a primary with decent single target damage, since this build is fully aoe.

Fun Fact: The damage bonus given by T3 Electro-Chemical Rounds stacks for both electrified and burning status effects. Because of this, my main LOK-1 build is 21111 Seeker Rounds (choose whatever lens mods you want though), and the Inferno Breach Cutter set to 11123 (choose whatever T5 you want). Executioner would give even more damage but I cannot deal with any less ammo on the LOK-1. Other Fun Fact: T5 electrical generator can do some funky stuff, It requires a lock of 3 bullets to one target before it shoots an electrified bullet, however this electrified bullet is the very first bullet that is fired. This means that you can cancel the other 2 normal shots and let electricity deal DOT. This is only really useful against a single target that isn't really a threat in the moment, but it can save ammo if used well.

Something important to note for the mod that boosts damage for electrified and burning targets, the two bonuses can stack, doing 40% bonus damage if the enemy has both statuses.

The editing and effort in all these videos is absolutely amazing, and incredibly fun. All the little details, the framing of the video subject, and especially all the comments from the Lok-1 as well. This and the BET-C videos are my favourites, though the biomes one comes really close to competing with them, and has some awesome theories behind the planet and explanations for what we see going down. So far every video has just been hitting it out of the park though. Just a few 11s in a wide array of 10/10s Really looking forwards to the next one!

god dam the Lok1 is fun to use! i really like to use executioner build for runs where i'm playing as a hunter for high danger lvl enemies like acid spitters, menaces and armored enemies. the ECR oc is really fun to use when no gunner exist to clean big waves of bugs. and seeker rounds clean ur head not only from aiming, but from even trying to hit ur target (bc u will always hit it). tnx for fun vid. hope u're doing well, Siirvend sir. May i suggest using Explosive Rounds OC with Hyper Propellant instead of Clean Sweep? In my experience LOK with ER have already good crowd control, ant Hyper Propellant helps greatly with praetorians, oppressors and spitballers. W/o it, the ammo economy suffers greatly when dealing with those beefy targets, IMO.

I agree that the build takes a bit more work to take out beefy guys but I find ways to work around that with damage over time, usually saving them for last or if I have a team, letting them go for the chunky boys. I just tend not to bring Hyper on non-dreadnought, Sabotage or Escort missions because I feel like its a bit overkill in most instances.

@@siirvend A Hyper against praetorians, oppressors and breeders can make quick work of them, and they can appear on any mission. Also a must-have for rival incursion missions for its ability to delete patrol bots, sniper turrets and trivialize the nemesis.

I've only used the lok1 with explosive rounds since I got the overclock, but now I'll try these builds out! Blowthrough makes much more sense knowing I can aim for the back bugs instead of the front, I should've thought of that.

Iirc, the XCR oc's explosions already proc fear regardless, so I'd run the electrocution rounds. Works fantastic against the caretaker and bots/turrets

I do both actually. I still like the assurance of the fear proc on my self when shit hits the fan but if I'm with a team I run electricity. I feel I should have added a voice line rather than a text blurb about that.

I should probably tell you that what you have there is a prototype of the LOK-1 I’ve been working on. This was supposed to essentially give you a heads up on flanking bugs and a way to help lonely miners forced to work with the A.I., I call him Looker. However as you can tell, his supposed human- er dwarven personality programming is a work in progress and makes him a bit more annoying rather than helpful. The amount of data I’ve gotten for improving him has been drastic compared to what I’ve been doing so I ask you hold onto Looker for a bit more so I can finalize him, but I can understand if you just want to give him back to me.

So, Neuro-lasso causes the bugs' muscles to spasm uncontrollably by emitting electricity, slowing down movement - that's a simplified version of what Siirvend said. To put it even more simply, the LOK-1's electro-waves force the bugs to quake, messing up their movement. And to put *even even more* simply, the bugs shake and they can't do stuff 'bout it. Basically, it electrocutes them.

My favorite lok-1 build is one i feature in my "ultimate stun/slowdown"/ "caretaker assault" or just "anti bot" build. Nuero lasso built for max targets, high ammo, and fear. Paired with the double turrets with the dmg/stun, the shard diffractor with extra heat mod, extra mag space, slowdown mod, the mag empty oc, and the shredders, this build is designed to bring targets big and small to a crawl. Particularly good on caretaker missions as well. The shard diffractor can take out turrets in seconds even if they have their shield up, the turrets and shredders help thin the herd, and the lok/diffractor themselves can keep groups and big targets away. And the caretaker fight is easy enough as well. Stack some pancakes between two arms, set up the turrets on either side and plop down a resupply and you can use your various tools to assault the caretaker. Being able to mag dump the shard diffractor at the last moment if things turn sour is nice, especially with the extra mag space. Edit: just realized i also posted this on the engineer builds video.

My favorite NG set thus far: (only items listed are required) Shotgun: Turret Whip (mod) and Mini Shells (OC) Turret: Gemini with this set you can use the shotgun as much as you like, while still being able to spam the turret whip as much as you like. The Gemini system is used to allow even faster spamming.

i wanted to get the seeker rounds overclock, unfortunately i didnt have any cores or missions to get any, i was however only 1 forge from reaching a mastery granting me an overclock. i got the overclock in that mastery level, and if i did my maths correctly that was a 1/104 chance on top of that i had just the perfect amount of magnite to forge the overclock and not a piece more. lady luck is on my side today

... Was looking for good Engi guides, being a tried and true Engi myself. What a surprise to find someone who not only does *multiple* builds, but also does some fantastic skits sprinkled throughout them as well. (Loved the Smart Stouts littering the floor, btw.) Now I'm wishing I had a mod that made my LOK-1 chattier... You've got some great stuff here, glad to have found you! Hopefully someday you'll cover the Shard Diffractor - as fun as it is to channel a potentially intelligent silicate organism as a heat ray into creatures, I haven't quite figured out how to put the thing together after getting used to the Breach Cutter for so, so long. A build where both my primary and secondary technically having a brain installed in them to work both sounds appropriately Engi Main, but also sounds like the ultimate squad goals. (As a plus, loved the overly nerdy explanation for the Neuro-lasso. There's reasons I main the "geeky" classes in games, and my living for that kind of overexplanation is one such reason. :D)

I've been using this one build for fun. I call it "The Forsaken" or "Feral Engineer" and my headcanon around it is that "what if the engineer got left behind?" It's a very resourceful if a bit lazy style of play. The kit includes Lok-1 Smart Rifle with Seeker Rounds and 22323, Shard Diffractor with Volatile Impact Reactor and 32113, Pickaxe with 13, Sentry Guns with 1221, Platform Gun with 212, S.S.G. shredder grenades, and the Armor rig with 1212. Perks include Thorns, Elemental Insulation, Veteran Depositor, Glyphid Charmer, and Dash, but sometimes I'll swap out VD and Dash for something else like Vampire and Iron Will or whatever. And finally Bosco with 31133 as my general all purpose build. And finally this build would not be complete without equipping the VERY IMPORTANT drip, Dawn of the dread armor with the skull cap, Beige skin tone, and whatever whacky style of sideburns mustache and beard you can come up with to appear as unhinged and feral and buglike as possible, (rn I have Frazzled Crest, Extreme Roadster, and Bulbous Upturn) and ofc for weapons i use bug hide pickaxe and glyphid trophy hunter weapons , all with darker and more raggedy colors This style is centered around playing defensively and resourcefulness as stated earlier, and is a bit of a jack of all trades centered around solo Hazard 5 play but only needs minor tweaking if you do co-op. I even have my own bit of lore I came up with for this build if anyone cares to read it, but I've already written a short novel here as it is so maybe I'll post later :) Rock and Stone!

Hey I actually use something really similar! I'm indecisive between VIR and Feedback Loop for the Diffrractor but they pair really well with Seeker Rounds.

@Siirvend feedback loop is great but I just can't get over how good VIR is vs the seas of swarmers I often get when passing near those purple bug holes in the walls, and it's like a free sticky flames crisper, slowing down and burning enemies, plus with dazzler it can nearly immobilize praetorians and oppressors, I just find it too good to pass up for anything else, using it for direct damage just feels wrong since it lasts so much longer with quick DoT squirts on the ground c:

I'm loving what they've added so far, the bots are difficult but different enough from the bugs it adds a fresh layer of danger to missions. I do think some of the events could be polished a bit more as far as difficulty goes but I'm happy regardless. The new weapons are great, I've been messing with them a lot and will definitely be doing videos covering a few builds for each.

I was wondering when the next video would come, on my beloved Lok-1 of all things! I love that thing, so versatile and I've gotten to the point that I don't struggle with ammo at all while still being efficient at killing bugs, I'll definitely give another shot to Neuro-Lasso after this, only gripe is that Fear Frequency on the Lok-1 with ECR is pretty redundant, the explosions already induce fear since you fire out so many Also, what's your opinion on the Season 2 things? Comsetics, the new enemy and the new toys?

So with the fear on the first build, I did say that Electrical Generator was just as viable in the little tip, I totally agree. The reason I go with the fear on the gun as opposed to relying on the explosions fear is because the guns fear can be modulated to be more powerful and wider than the explosions. Its also much more consistent when you want to proc it because Ive noticed fear explosions on smaller booms to be weaker in potency. Just my 2 cents on it.

So I know I'm super late to the party, but I onetrick rj250, and the disabled inertia inhibitor on the plg itself is much more useful than on the platform gun. The fall damage reduction on the platform gun can be inconsistent (it doesn't always work), and you'll still take a lot of damage at higher velocities. Stopping your fall with the rj250 itself is much more consistent, requires less planning, and completely removes fall damage instead of just dampening it. I think fall damage prevention is the reason the rj250 comes with a reload speed increase. So honestly rj250 is a good reason NOT to get disabled inertia inhibitor on your platform gun. There might be an argument that spiky grenade is more useful than Repellant Additive in some situations. But personally I value Repellant Additive more and even if I didn't, I'd probably still go with that option due to how much more freedom it gives me while jumping.

Few questions/remarks/other-things-I'll-think-of-as-I-write-this-comment: 1) I notice you always have the Incendiary Compound upgrade on the PGL and never the armor breaker upgrade. Is incendiary just that much better, because I always thought instantly clearing a wave with some utility against armored enemies was better than letting the wave die ten seconds seconds later? 2) Do you have a video planned for the Shard Diffractor? I find its single-target damage completely absurd even with just the Soft Tissue Disruption upgrade, though I'm not sure about its AOE capabilities, even though I have the Endothermic Explosion overclock. 3) What do you think of the LOK-1 compared to the other Engineer primaries? I've tried it before but I'm not sure if I preferred it to the Warthog or Stubby. Maybe I just wasn't using the right build, I remember using the SMRT Targeting Software instead Blowthrough Rounds, plus I don't have any overclocks for the gun yet. I'll have to give it another shot

Ill answer them in order: 1) So, the reason for using Incendiary Compound on hazard 5 is not readily obvious but I prefer it because it helps clear more bugs overall, at least when youre using it for grunts and smaller. You do more direct and explosion damage without the conversion with Armor Breaker, true, but what it doesnt say is that the Incendiary Compound applies the converted fire damage without fall-off. The damage normally gets lower the further out from the center of the explosion, meaning you kill the bugs you hit close to but not all of them. The fire damage applies to everything that is touched by the explosion, so even bugs that are barely scratched by the explosion damage get ignited at the same time as being feared. For grunts and similar bugs, this means certain death. With how numerous waves become on Haz 5, it can really save you ammo and allow you to divert your attention rather than cleaning up numerous half damaged bugs. Im not saying Armor Breaker is bad btw, just that I prefer to apply the fire DoT to clear the trash from the wave rather than go for heavy hits. 2) I do in fact! Ive been playing with it since it came out and have more than a few set ups Im liking, including a few that utilize AoE damage to great effect. Endothermic Explosion, Volatile Impact Reactor and Feedback Loop are all OCs that do AoE crowd clearing really well and Im excited to show them off when I get to the Diffractor for a video. 3) The LOK-1 is interesting when compare to the other two primaries and I would say that it definitely needs overclocks to truly shine, unlike the other two that function a bit easier without the added oommf. The OC-less build in this video is definitely no pushover though. The LOKs role though is a bit different than the other two in that you want to know when to use it and when to rely on your secondary to clear groups, it kills fast but cant shoulder entire swarms on its own due to its ammo economy. As for SMRT Targeting, I really just dont have any use for its functionality, especially when most of my builds center around reaching a certain number of locks regardless of a targets HP. Id say, get some OCs for it and give it another try, the utility the weapon boasts is fantastic once you get into the groove of using it.

@@siirvend Ah, now the incendiaries make sense, and I can't wait for the Death Star to become fully operational. Also, I did retry the LOK without an overclock but with breakthrough rounds to satisfactory results. Then again I only play on Haz 3 regularly so the builds may change with Haz 4 and 5.

I feel like stubby with turret em discharge is the only engi primary that wont be hurting too badly for ammo if you use it as your primary weapon for general shooting and swarm clear. You can then save your secondary for high value targets

It really depends on the combo for engie. I build to have one or the other focused on swarm cleat and the other focused on single target so that it's more clear to me which one to switch to and when. Like with the EM Stubby, I use the blender OC so that I can't remove high hp threats to use the stubby on more of the small guys

Quite an informative review of this Weapon System! Though I can't help but notice the modification of SMЯT Targeting Software was completely absent from this review. I'm guessing that the extra damage and practice of timing bursts makes up for any lost ammo from overlocks? Say for example; a 4 round burst on a stray Swarmer?

That's the thing, a 4 round burst on a swarmer will never spend more shots than necessary to kill it. SmRt Targeting only prevents you from locking onto the swarmer more times than needed to kill it. That, to me, is rarely useful and in the case for some builds, actually detrimental for the function, like with the first build and its explosive rounds. I wish I had more uses for it but after a lot of testing with it, I just couldn't find one you know?

@@siirvend I’ve only just unlocked the lok-1 but the “prevent you from overlocking” allows you to discharge the second it stops locking onto a target in order to kill them instantly. I’m planning on experimenting with macro lense and shutter speed to see how effective this strategy is. Btw great review!

@@siirvend Ah I see, thanks for clarrifying on this! I must have misunderstood the function in thinking every lock was a guaranteed occasion it would fire on a target. Now that you describe it like this, the only reason I can see this being useful is taking out as many swarmers as possible with a full lock; if you're doing that too often I think you're forgetting the Sentry Gun in your back pocket. It takes a bit if practice but I think it helps to do it backwards. It let's you control how far away the grenade shockwave is from you, letting you aim yourself more vertically or horizontally. I try to do long jumps more often because the higher jumps become much less controllable.

For me it's similar to rocket jumping in TF2, if you've ever played that game. I kind of walk in the direction I want to fly, flick my rocket launcher downward and try to jump and fire at the same time. Also, always have a landing spot in mind before you attempt jump with RJ250. Fall damage is a bitch in this game, so don't be afraid to put down some emergency plats near the ground too incase you miss your jump.

I have an unquenchable addiction to mag dumping the Loki. Also, as far as I'm concerned, seeker rounds works by firing the bullets directly into a compartment full of the wormhole special stored in the guns barrel.

I prefer using the Smяt mod so it doesn't "over lock" one target and finishing off bugs left by Bosco, my teammates and/or turrets... It's pretty convenient to save ammo too, and the overclock is the armor breaking module

My problem with that mod is that it prevents things like armor breaks module from proccing since it will usually stop you from reaching max locks on anything with a smaller hp pool. It's good for cleaning many small bugs but often times I prefer to over lock a few bugs to get the bonus damage and save ammo that way. Weird thing is that smRt also doesn't really save you a ton of ammo since the gun naturally won't shoot more rounds than necessary even if overlocked.

I can not get into the lok-1 sadly. although the idea is great and cool, I am in love with turret whip. If the lok-1 had something that could interact with turrets in a meaningful way, it'd get boosted a lot in my eyes. Currently its standing out as the only primary to not interact with the turrets, and that sucks :( would be cool if the lok had an overclock where you can give the eye to a turret which would boost its rate of fire and make all bullets swerve to hit the weakpoints of enemies, to the downside of not having lock on yourself for a short period of time.
