I love Ghana. I saw Sekondi, Takoradi, & Kumasi. I would love to return. I taught a quasi-official summer school session at Old Hospital Junior High. The kids were great. I’d gone with American nurses & health-care workers, got to help transport a baby-having woman to the delivery area. I was so happy to help, but after moving the patient the nurses (both Ghanian and American) said to me: “thank you ‘miah. You have to leave now: you are a boy.” …Oh, yes true. I am a boy, and I’m just a school-teacher-not a doctor or a nurse. Also, this woman has never met me before. Yes. I leave. Absolutely.

It is gilded wood. More like inlaid with gold plate. Alstonia Boonei wood. In pictures you can see the golden rivets. I'm not discounting it's historical or cultural significance either. Physically if it were solid 24k gold at its dimensions it would distort under its own weight. Also its obvious that isn't cast. It's still an amazing object.

No. The Golden stool represents the essence of the Asante people. If the British had got their hands on it, it would have been the end of the kingdom, so it was an attempt to psychologically break the Asante people.

Who is" we"?
@blackboi81514 жыл бұрын
I think "we" is the African diaspora. I truly believe if African hadn't sold their most precious resource (it's people ), Africa wouldn't have been subjugated by Rome (Europe ), advanced weapons are not. Africans hated each other and fought over trinkets, selling MILLIONS of Africans. They don't realize being Yoruba, Ashante, Shone or any other tribe, you black and enter the Western world you're considered a knagga. Slavery hurt the black African world wide view in a negative way and has done damage that has lasted hundreds of years. The sad thing is set Africans would still sell each other at rates as high as the peak of the trans-Atlantic slave trade. It's reported slavery thrives in some parts of Africa. I wish Africa would unite get it together. Millions of Africans are at the bottom of the Atlantic.

Interesting. Have you wondered, when Osei Tutu was unifying the Ashanti the Fante was already seen as a Nation and confederation. Osei Tutu, desired power. The Fanti ranges from central to western,. The Fanti were also the power house of Ghana. Accepting the Ga, Ewe and other ethnicity now modern day Ghana.Tho aiding their Allies to conquer the Ashanti, They were usurpered after the bond of 1844. The gate way to Africa , Gold coast was stated to the Fante land (Gold coast). Gold is popular in Ghana .. there js also Tarkwa. The Ashanti loved war and that deprived peace and wealth

Another day or another awesome Smarthistory playlist to dazzle and enlighten me. 😌❤ "A man's stool or a woman's stool can take on the essence of that person." That's a new idea for me. Of all the blessed and divine objects, a stool is certainly among the most interesting.. A stool with its own seat. Now I've seen everything. 😅 I love the title "Ashantehene" - my title must be just as cool, lol. I also love the wisdom of the ram. I actually learned a related French phrase: "Reculer pour mieux sauter." PS: I discovered my package just shy of midnight last night and am holding it hostage until my nightmarish overnight shifts on Thursday and Friday. It'll give me something to be excited about and be my guaranteed mood boost, lol.
