Hi Samir, thanks for your comment! The way my teacher Reynaldo explained it to me is that sikuri is to be played in dialogue rather than alone. I play the part called ira and he plays the arka in the video. The ira is spiritually considered the male part, whereas the arka the female one. In the Andean cosmovision the harmony is their son, thus the music. Union is strenght. To give is to take. That is one of the reasons why sikuri is typically played in groups and not alone :) fascinating, isn't it?
