From my experience, you are lucky to get the cops to take you seriously in cases like this. My son was diagnosed with celiac disease, and his own dad knowingly fed him food with gluten. When my then 9 year old son stood up for himself and said the food wasn't safe, he was mocked by his stepmom. "Says who? Your mom?" He was told it was food and to choose. When I reported to the cops that dad intentionally harmed our sons health. they called him and said that I had a serious grudge against him. Like I haven't gone through all this hassle to make sure my son is healthy, no it's a grudge against dad.

I seem to remember that story as well. There was another story involving coconut oil that actually ended in the child dying. The grandmother put it in the granddaughter's hair, and it killed her. The ironic part is that it was in that child's family's culture to use coconut and coconut byproducts. I think a lot of people believe food allergies are fake because (1) they don't have them and (2) they used to not be as prevalent as they are nowadays. I can see where the latter really comes into play. I remember as a kid back in the 80s and 90s, maybe one or two kids or adults in my entire school of 1,000 had a food allergy, but today it seems like every other kid or adult has a food-related allergy, be it peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, gluten, or anything else. Some blame how food is processed. Some think we've become too soft. I think part of it is that allergen testing has become more advanced than it was 20, 30, 40, or 50 years ago, so it's easier to pinpoint certain allergies. Like I mentioned before, it used to be very rare to come across somebody allergic to something like peanuts or shellfish, so a lot of people still find it hard to believe.

You can't train people out of an allergy, but we can grow out in and out of them... also they have done studies on things like why nut allergies are so common now, it is largely because parents are not exposing their child to things like nuts because they are to scared to do their jobs and test their child for allergic reactions
