Silca Super Secret Lube Follow up

Thanks for this follow up. I switched from Squirt lube to hot wax 1 month ago and I am very satisfied so far. I wax 2 chains in order to always have 1 ready to go if necessary. I personally rue-wax after 300 km or so when the chain becomes somehow more noisy when crossed. I have also purchased the liquid version of super secret but not tried so far. It could be an option if I don’t have time to hot re-wax. I now use a saucer pot to melt the wax and it is much more efficient than in the plastic bag.

Nice update! I recently changed to (hot) waxing and use the silca drip wax for maintenance. I'm asking myself the same questions like you and find your video very informative. Thank you and keep on informing us 👍

Why Super Secret has that strange consitency ? Every chain I have behaves like "Silca-fobic" (silca super secret doesn't stay on it, however other waxes/lubes don't have that problem) ? even after cleaning them, or should I clean in some specific spirit ?

The black stuff is typically the tungsten disulphide additive in the wax.

Thank you!! But I have to wonder 'IF' you really had the chain (really, really) clean at the start??? The reason I wonder that is that the process you used dose get 'MOST' of the stock sickness off, but not all of the grease (experience with my sun chains) and if you'd get even better results if it was. Im currently using a HOT waxed chain (and have been a couple years) and thinking of trying SS myself (looks like less a mess - more fullprof) I ride a recumbent trike, so my chain is long (3 of yours) and it a pain

Hello David, I am not sure I understand your question. You need to treat a new chain to remove all lubricant before applying the wax. Once the wax is applied, you can just wipe with alcool and reapply the liquid wax every 400 km

Just wondering why all the big brands still put grease and oil on their chains. Wax ist the new Wunderwaffe! Hell no - it's just crap for people who have to much time to spare.

Just to make sure the chain does not rust between production and purchase. What they put is sticky as hell and should be removed even if you use lubricants

First time is a pain but after that you save time. I rotate 3 waxed chains at a time and its really very little effort switching and re-waxing and the advantages are for real - even at amateur level. Forget about speed - your drive chain will last a lot, lot longer (while running better).

Grease is for storage only. Wax is by far the best for low friction use.

bonjour from toronto. ok so firstly very good discovery by using the Cyclone to help apply the wax-lube. You are of high-iq haha. Regarding cleanup of the Cyclone.... theoretically, boiling hot water would remove the wax from the Cyclone. It might need a couple of runs through hot water, but theoretically, it should be 100% clean thanks to hot water. Have you tried to clean the Cyclone with hot water a few times yet?

Hello. Yes I usually just wash it in the sink with hot water only. I make sure the brushes are free of wax, but for the body of the cyclone, it does not matter as you will use wax again later
