SILENCE - The Power of Quiet in a World Full of Noise by Thich Nhat Hanh
In his book - Silence, Buddhist monk and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh explains how mindfulness is the practice that stops the noise inside. With gentle anecdotes, simple Buddhist wisdom and practical exercises, he shows us how to live mindfully so that all the internal chatter ceases and we are left with the eloquent sound of silence. Now, at last, we can answer the call of the beauty around us. Through silence, Thich Nhat Hanh reveals, we are free to hear, to see - and just be.

Try not to worry so much, remember that in 20/30 years most of us will be gone, in 50 years most of us will be forgotten forever.(With this in mind, & I apologise if it is not the best reference to use )Many things are not worth worrying about. Take it easy...breathe...exhale....be here now xxx

Happiness turned to me and said, ‘It is time. It is time to forgive yourself for all of the things you did not become. It is time to exonerate yourself for all the people you couldn’t save, for all the fragile hearts you fumbled with in the dark of your confusion. It is time, child, to accept that you don’t have to be who you were a year ago, that you don’t have to want the same things. Above all else, it is time to believe, with reckless abandon, that you are worthy of me, for I have been waiting for years.’ Bianca Sparacino

Excelent material. I started reflecting on, and following these simple habits at age 30. I’m about to be 39 and know I live this way not daily, but all day every day. Sitting in meditation for 30mins daily ONLY to reimerse yourself right back in the drama of the world is not a complete way. To do every thing in life with your full attention and without thought is the way to and for permanent inner peace. Great work of a teaching.

I’m 29 and will be 30 at the end of the year. And I’m currently going through that reflective stage where I’m reflecting on my 20s and the time I wasted. But I’m definitely going to follow better habits in my 30s. I’ve been working on changing my reality & habits for the past 4 years. It’s been a journey that I’m grateful for

@@briifitXCIII there is something about self reflection that can move mountains within yourself. The worse kind are finding people to blame for your current condition, or guilting yourself for what has happened in the past. But, DO pay attention to How those feelings got created. The best thing about self reflection is that it signifficantly reduces the weight of things in your current state and moving forward. Once that is established, you can peacefully dissolve your past. If you’d like more personal communication, I can email or text, miss..

@@user-qe4zj6iu4sI’ve read one of hes books. Very good writing indeed. The unthetered soul… I highly tecommend to any inner bliss inner peace seeker. I have read one book from Michael A Singer. The unthetered soul. Soo simplistic and yet a master work. This whole “mystical seemingly elusive” eternal inner peace state, is impossible to teach, as the state itself is “nothing / no things” To try and teach it, is to use words, to describe the fore mentioned. But Michael did great at writing what the state is like, and practical point of (self)observation. Ultimately, my ‘final’ realisation was what all have always said: there is nothing to learn. There is only UNlearning to do. Even to see, observe and realise that most, if not all our suffering comes from our own inability to simply just ‘let it go’. Whaterver trauma or memory you hold on to… why? What are you affraid of, really, to just say “it happened, I am ok now, I can let this go, for good’. We have sooo much power within us to be unconditional love. It’s always been there! It is waiting for those who dare seek it, and merge with it. ❤

Man. A lot of this stuff. He hit it right on the head. I live alone, ain't got much family, and if I'm not at work, or even when I'm at work, my mind always clogged with mostly negative thoughts, from past failures, past trauma, past failed relationships etc. I tend to withdraw from others, get depressed. Play chess on my phone all day to ease it. Or distract it. Or cover it in humor whenever I do decide to talk to peers, friends, co workers. And everyday is a repetitive cycle. And yet I cover it and move on as if everything is OK.

Thank you for sharing! I resonate with you, i also live alone most of my life as an orphan with no siblings, i have failed so many times but i keep getting back up again. I understand it's difficult to control the mind, the thoughts that come to our minds, i try to focus on the positives, what i can control, what i have and my goals. Take care of your energy, what's within you, that's what's most important. Peace and blessings.

I have tried to paint with a large group of people, in a hay house, at summertime. In silence. For hours. Being alone, and silent, is one thing. Being together and silent, is something else. Something bigger. I felt shy, and became very vunerable. And that was a good beginning. Afterwards we talked about it. And everybody thought it was such a beautiful experience.

I am an avid bird photographer. It requires me to go into quiet places. My thought processes seem to vanish into a tunnel down the lens of my camera. Poetry also helps. Writing it, I mean.

*Don’t believe everything you think* The only person who is ever responsible for your emotions is you. And your emotions are simply powerful feedback. They show up for one of two dominant reasons You’ll be amazed at what you attract when you start believing in what you deserve. *What you tell yourself every day will lift you up or tear you down. Choose wisely* Can you feel an intense emotion, like anger, without acting on it, reacting to it, or trying to get rid of it? Can you feel such an intense emotion without needing to justify or explain it-or needing to find someone or something to blame it on?

Having read this book a very long time ago I can say with some certainty that these principles work to reduce stress and anxiety. Practicing walking meditation in your daily life is the simplest and easiest way to maintain calm in a fast-paced world. Counting steps in coordination with the breath is the easiest way to learn how to bring Buddhist meditation practice into daily life.
