Well it's winter. I took trip into the woods to set up tarp shelter that be good for the winter season. I also cooked up some chocolate chip epan cakes which I cooked on the twig stove.

Good job my friend, I've done similar, I'd like for you to see my round fire wall with a coal shoot coming out the side, you can cook like it's an oven, with just the coals , but you got to keep the fire going to have coals. Ps. Get enough wood ahead of time ,oh n love the video, n very good Job

Thanks for the great video. I always enjoy videos like this with little or no talking. By the way, were those raisins or craisins. Great idea. I think I'll try that on my next backpacking trip. Maybe with a few chocolate chips. Honey on top. And, that's why I'm diabetic :-)

I wonder, better for the tarp long term to lay it over the ridge line and use the Prussiks to secure it, as opposed to having the pressure focused on the tie out points?

I thought you were gonna setup a tarp to spend overnight.. and the food you ate doesn't look very healthy. Chocolate chips are bad for you.. butter is not that good either. You should bring hamburger meat, bread and salads.. You should try out Snugpak Bunker shelter tent it's really good
@thomohara6116
@thomohara6116 4 жыл бұрын
I switched to a tarp setup last spring and liked it a lot. I'm doing my first cold trip with a tarp this winter. Im gonna try the configuration you used in the video . Will it work for a rectangular tarp? Also. What is you pad / bag setup like? Im using a 8x10 siltarp , 0f bag , synthetic underlayment under a klymit v pad . Temps should be in the high teens at night.
@joesouting
@joesouting 4 жыл бұрын
Yes it will work with rectangular tarp as long you have a lot of guide points. I find only down side for this set up. If its snowing a lot the sides kind of come in. You have to tap the snow off. I use 10x10 polyester tarp, small tarp or space blanket for the ground, thermarest proline sleeping pad, and -7 Teton sleeping bag
