I have watched thousands of Minecraft videos for the last 10 years and not once have I seen the cud before your great video. You are bringing it back.

I already see a great future for your channel, you got humor intelligence and social skills, which is a rare combination in the advanced redstone community. You clearly got a plan of your vids beforehand and structurized them well. I’m excited what the future may bring, please keep offering world downloads even if you think your testing grounds aren’t good enough to show, there’s always the opportunity someone else may find a way to make the broken pre patch crafter cud ideas from last vid work. I rather see a handful of non working design ideas than cubicmeters take of burry every bit of information in as long of a video as possible so no one ever finds it. No front but the last thing we need in the redstone community is less comprehensive videos about niche mechanics.

Ive definitely seen CUDs before in game while designing storage tech just by accident, but never previously knew what they could detect. Since learning this, ive seen several cool uses of it while designing things!

probably wasnt a good idea to use this in my first ever redstone build but after some hours I finally managed to use this to start my 3x3 elevator. thanks so much for this tutorial its a really an awesome build.

Yeah I love red stone and is mainly what I do in Minecraft, and I although spending way to much time in YT have never heard of it before. Btw your video inspired me to build a secret door on a server I play on which I think is sweet! I’ve subbed and I’ll see how I like your channel in the future

Gotta say that saying something shouldn't be exciting or noteworthy because a subset of people are already used to it is baffling. Maybe the comment was more of a correction on whether the statement it was foregotten being untrue, but even then when (almost definitely) most people won't know, it likely still is.

one question about the old design. why is the comparator always on and how do I replicate this? i build it in survival but it wont do anything...

After writing a long comment I realized I mis-read the question. Make sure your on java since it only works there, also you can check the world download (has the old door design), to cross reference it to see if there was any difference. Here is my off topic comment that I not bother to delete: Basically, if the "power source" is moved with a block between the comparator, the comparator fails to spot that it needs to update itself. The silent design can swap between being normally on to normally off, hence mentioning only taking an observer output from it so it doesn't matter which one it becomes. Additionally, with item cycle in this design the comparator does update itself but is delayed to 1 sec ( I think), so to prevent the output being a clock of false positive's, the item must be in the cart for at least a frame to keep the comparator in the same state. This however means if you happen to click at the same time that item is in the cart, the comparator isn't in a bug state, not giving you an output (ie just click again or click twice since you just happen to got bad timing). Based on your previous comment, a 3x3 elevator (assuming not bubble column water), is probably not silent, so you could use of the many designs highlighted in original CUD video. Some of my other redstone video also has CUDs in them

Could you have 2 items in the system and 0-tick the hopper and dropper to make it constantly working? Or at least 1-tick with scaffolding.

The cool thing isn't that you "reinvented" CUDs or anything.. because you didn't it was already discovered.. The great part was that you covered all the things it could detect, which most people most likely didn't know about at all, highlighting unique use cases of it showing it is not just a BUD. Awareness and guides on how to utilize components is always great! I was certainly excited to learn about this.

You are a decently small channel but you are one that deserves to be on my subscription list, I'm not good at much tech wise but I love learning about it, great video

I remember reading about TEUDs and not understanding a thing a decade ago when I was a mere youngling Looking back at the compact design in the first video I think I may have seen it used in some Ilmango or other crazy scicraft guys contraption once but never ever outside of the extreme niche hardcore redstone engineering community. Thanks for reviving this ancient technology! May the algorithm give you all the love in the world Btw cubicmetre if ur reading this, I love your stuff but sometimes you redstone nerds get really exclusivist with your knowledge expecting people to know every little fringe detail once mentioned. Been following docm and etho since 2011, Ilmango , yourself, methodz, earthcomputer, jkm, rays and some other big sci and prototech stoners for years, read thru the wikis since early puberty, went thru building multiple world eaters in survival and studied electrical engineering bc of this game. Yet it is a mere footnote in my distant memory as this guy proves with his demonstration of the lack of information about it online. I even watched your sorting system video in which it occurs but missed the cud entirely bc 99,99% of people don’t built scicraftesque contraptions in survival, they just witness them being demonstrated in awe. Just bc some guys, maybe 3 servers in the world - given that some people on Wavetech probably know about it too - doesn’t mean it’s common knowledge dude. Sometimes people on the forefront of technology can become pretty disconnected from the rest of the mere mortal community

I've done redstone for a while now and I didn't know about these because I've never taken a close look at storage tech before. Thank you for the videos!
