@@marcoselb0310 It's a lot of fun and you can equip yourself with very lightweight gear and go "hike and fly", which is what it's called.

When did you do that? I'm planning on going in 10 days, and the snowfield at 10.18 looks nasty. Did you run into more snowfields?

@@georgechatzidakis8118 I was there in mid-July. That was the only snow field. It is easily passable for experienced hikers. Hiking poles can be helpful.

@@marcoselb0310 It's not always easy to judge verticality on videos but it definitely looks like slipping on that snow field would be deadly...😦 PS : I've been to that hut in September 2017, because it was later in the season there was no such snow field but there was a bit of snow (and even ice) left from 3 days earlier. Definitely had to be careful 😅 Of all the SAC huts I have visited I'd say this one was one of the more difficult ones. Not just because of the conditions I got but also because the technical and exposed part (Rotes Gufer) is quite long and therefore psychically demanding. I've done other huts with T4 routes that had similar or even more demanding segments but often it was just 1 or 2 segments with just a few meters. Therefore, Schreckhornhütte was quite an experience for me : you really have to stay focused for sooo long 😬

@@vince4863 Yes, it is relatively steep, but because many hikers have already crossed it, you can find a good foothold in the tracks. I have also crossed untouched snowfields (on other trails), which I found much more challenging. And you are right, in general, however, the T4 route to the hut should not be underestimated and should only be done by experienced hikers.
