I did this trail in 2019 and it was really great. We didn't camp and we took our dog, quite a challenge at times with all the ladders! We also did it in 6 days. That was doable! All the best, Kaat

Cheers. There's definitely some built up and open areas to avoid, but also longer stretches of woods. Finding a flat, level spot might take a while. But they're doing great efforts in the region setting up bivouac zones. Do check these first!

Thanks. The north bank of the Elbe has more forest and rock formations. The south bank has more villages and fields, but also those fantastic tabletop hills.

Je weet dat het daar streng verboden is te wildkamperen? Ik ben aangesproken op een video waar ik met een drone vloog. Gedreigd met enorme boetes. Er zijn op de Malerweg talloze legale accomodaties.....

There are not so many campsites along the Malerweg itself. I’m planning to go there in 3 weeks, and cannot find enough of them on my way. Maybe you can share a link or smth please?
