It's amazing how having Gigi and Fauna together for the game suddenly makes Silent Hill 2 go from being one of the greatest psychological horror games ever released to feeling like a pure comedy with absolutely nothing to fear at all lmao, the constant jokes from these two and how well they bounced off of one another's comments was just simply spectacular. Gigi's comment about Pyramid Head not being able to watch Tiktoks of dancing fruits anymore after Fauna smashed that one TV had me cackling so loud I had to take a drink afterwards to clear my throat.

thanks for the stream, fauna and gigi! and fauna, dont feel self-conscious about using the map a lot. i watched a silent hill veteran play this and at the end of his playthrough he had looked at the map over 600 times (the game tracks it). also a gameplay tip thats true for pretty much all silent hill games: monsters detect you less with your flashlight off. especially a certain kind of monsters. its sometimes useful.

After rewatching the vod, I'm coming around on the Remake and the new interpretation of James's character. I've mostly avoided watching or playing the Remake until Fauna streamed it. And despite all the clowning around, it's Gigi's and Fauna's reaction that sells me on the new James. They actually find his emotional unreadability and irrational behavior _unsettling_ and that's what made him click for me. This version of James is hardcore _disassociating._ That's why he's so unconcerned about his safety, why he barely seems to care about the monsters, the rusty syringes he's jabbing himself, the violence he's dishing out and why his interactions with the other NPC's is so stilted. He's a man doing the emotional equivalent of picking at a scab. Nothing will deter him from picking at his wounds until he gets closure. And that really sells me on the quicker combat. James isn't brave. He's not action hero Leon Kennedy. He's not fearless. He's both numb and reckless. It's a great re-contextualization of the original game. It's really appropriate that Fauna is limping around on low health all the time. It really looks very much like James is a man stumbling through a ruined town like a man possessed.
