Damn this was a solid review, that actually had good takes and not constantly gargling team silents balls. Less time spent bitching about how the OG did it better. and more time making a fair critique about the padding in the game or other aspect that I as well agree took away form the experience. And the fucken MIDI XD. Id say most of us old SH fans are glad we didn't get a shit sandwich. OG SH2 will always be my favorite horror game and most enjoyed in the series. But the remake was a delightful love letter coxing us back for another visit. and the devs did a great job.

Yeah the team silent fascination is a bit much, sure the games post them have been.. contentious to say the least, but there is some gold buried in those janky hills

I really enjoyed the SH2 remake for what it was. I don't see it as a replacement of the original but I really enjoyed my time with it and think it's definitely one of the better SH games as a whole. There are a lot of bits I think might actually be handled better in the remake as opposed to the original. I much prefer this new version of James (it was always so hard for me to not laugh at James' delivery in the original and I think my enjoyment of the harsh themes of the game were ruined by his silly voice and line reading). I also really love the way Angela and Eddie were handled in this version. The only characters I don't think are better or worse than their original counterparts are Maria and Laura (which isn't a slight against the new actors; more that the originals were always really good and outstanding). As for the pacing, that's really my only issue. Super long slog of a game to replay once you've gone through it. Even with the chainsaw and playing on the easiest difficulty, I had to force myself to trudge through long sections again to get all the steam achievements without falling asleep.

This game turned out so well! I think for what it is, it is perfect for me . I honestly don’t know if I prefer this over the original. I love the otherworld too. The seemingly endless walls climbing up and down into a void freaks me out whenever I see it. The game is so good. Oh and the GOAT of the game, Abstract Daddy. OOOOH MYYY GOD. It was perfect.

Didn't play these games back when they first came out. Played Silent Hill 1 around two years ago, and loved it. I love this remake, but it has motivated me to go play the rest of the series, especially OG SH 2.

I like both. The older performances fit that version of the game and the new performances for the modern version. The acting for the Stillness ending is phenomenal though.
