One of the things I love about the endings is how James talks to Mary in the Leave and In Water endings. In both he starts with, "That's why I did it honey, I didn't want you to suffer." In the "In Water" ending, he then says that wasn't the *whole* truth and says the truth was that part of him hated her for taking away his life. In the "Leave" ending however, he says that's *not* true. The truth was he hated her, wanted her out of the way and that he wanted his life back. Basically the same thing from a glance, but one has James deflecting responsibility and putting the blame on Mary, while the other has him facing what's he's done head on and coming to terms with his guilt. It's amazing how different ways of saying something can lead to completely different outcomes.

Silent Hill is not just a game. This is what I call "art". The storyline, which goes straight through the parts of the games, the ambient, the soundtrack, the deep feelings, the gameplay.....I don't give a shit about how blurry and fancy graphics looks today. You can not replace all those components of a game, just for graphics..... Many old games are much better in many points.
@RedRose.904 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you!
@BJ-zd2or2 жыл бұрын
Agree, graphics today is not the point of what makes a game. It's the story or the journey that counts. 2000s I felt that it knew what it wanted to create or show, like what Solid Snake, Hideo Kojima said to read are sad and messy history in its light. That hit so many levels and speaks true about my own life. PS2 showed so much and gave so much joy, happiness, sadness, funny moments. PS2 was something that relates too alot of us becouse it's what made sense. To me anyway. It was an era that of the modern day normality everday day usual thing. Thank you playstation for making the ps2 and what Joy's you have made too everyone 🌌
@BJ-zd2or2 жыл бұрын
I think as there was a game called Back in 1995 and that game gave a sense of reflecting as a gamer of points of the characters story. The character Kent represents the average gamer of the 90s, 2000s. just fighting existentially for a future.
@aDriveAway2 жыл бұрын
There's a lot to be said about "shitty" graphics of the old PS1/PS2 era of video games. The consumer base nowadays don't understand aesthetics; they'll trash older games because of their graphics and praise realistic graphics, then go out and buy some indie game that emulates the 64-bit art style without being conscious of this "contradiction" that just shows that graphics can often times mean very little to what video games can really offer. It's completely messed up and it's why a lot of video game companies can get by with a dull, rewrapped product because the consumer base will just eat it up because it's "shinier".

Sh2 is in my opinion about how people cope with how their sins and tragedys some people like to think they deserve everything bad that happens to them (Angela) Some people choose to run away and go crazy from guilt (Eddie) And finally some people think it is best to punish themselves for the mistakes they have caused (James) In a way silent Hill is trying to help these 3 lost souls by making them confront there mistakes but it's up to you if James can move on or won't live with the burden of what he's done

All it takes is one moment, one second in time, to relive your past through nostalgia. Be it good or bad, no matter the degree, you'll always know that you have the best life any normal human can experience here on Earth. And that one day, it'll be all okay. One day we will be like children again. This piece of music is beautiful.

I don't want the past... It should stay the past. No envy visits this mind, no jealousy. But if the world is just what I perceive, if it's fated, then it's pointless and awful. If it's not, then I'm merely a Gael, that's all. Sure, a rather genetically gifted one, but that's it, I'm not a special person. There's nothing but trying times where failure occurs due to my ineptitude... I do well, but I don't like any of this. Sorry for the unjustified ranting...

@@calibvr Growing up means that you have to eventually cope with the fact that the best time of your life is a thing of the past. Funny how one moment you're a child and the next you're a teenager filled with despair, constructing the illusion that once you're adult it gets better, until you realize that childhood is truly the only good times. Remember the "Wait, that's it?" feeling when turning 18? 20? And the eventual realization that your youth is entirely void now at 30? I think the better the childhood you had, the harder it is to grow up.

Nothing has ever left such a big impact on me since Silent Hill 2. It just absorbs you, gets deep into your head and never lets you forget about it. I always find myself coming back to it because of how much it connected to me when I first played it. This is a great story period: a tale of finding redemption and the lengths you're willing to go for the people you love. Never forgetting that your commitment to be with someone defines what type of person you really are.

Dairnon I kinda hope that, if anything the "Leave" ending is canon . It's almost like a callback to the first game and it just seems like the most beautiful and realistic outcome. I'd like to think that James would realise what he did was wrong but that he could still "Leave" with Mary in his heart and the sweet little girl who Mary hoped that he would take care of. I do love the Ritual ending and the mystery of whether or not Mary was brought back and I also think that this would be an interesting ending because it is indicative of the fact that James would do anything for his wife even perform a dark ritual, which is very likely going to kill him. Also, in my opinion the "in water" ending does fit the tragic atmosphere of the story but since James was originally going to go to the town to kill himself it just seems.....strange that after all he did, all that he had learned , that he would just kill himself anyways, especially with Laura running around the town, all alone.

In my restless dreams, I see that town. Silent Hill. You promised me you'd take me there again someday. But you never did. Well, I'm alone there now... In our 'special place'... Waiting for you... Waiting for you to come to see me. But you never do. And so I wait, wrapped in my cocoon of pain and loneliness. I know I've done a terrible thing to you. Something you'll never forgive me for. I wish I could change that, but I can't. I feel so pathetic and ugly laying here, waiting for you... Every day I stare up at the cracks in the ceiling and all I can think about is how unfair it all is... The doctor came today. He told me I could go home for a short stay. It’s not that I'm getting better. It’s just that this may be my last chance... I think you know what I mean... Even so, I'm glad to be coming home. I've missed you terribly. But I'm afraid, James. I'm afraid you don't really want me to come home. Whenever you come see me, I can tell how hard it is on you... I don't know if you hate me or pity me... Or maybe I just disgust you... I'm sorry about that. When I first learned that I was going to die, I just didn't want to accept it. I was so angry all the time and I struck out at everyone I loved most. Especially you, James. That's why I understand if you do hate me. But I want you to know this, James. I'll always love you. Even though our life together had to end like this, I still wouldn't trade it for the world. We had some wonderful years together. Well, this letter has gone on too long, so I'll say goodbye. I told the nurse to give this to you after I'm gone. That means that as you read this, I'm already dead. I can't tell you to remember me, but I can't bear for you to forget me. These last few years since I became ill... I'm so sorry for what I did to you, did to us... You've given me so much and I haven't been able to return a single thing. That's why I want you to live for yourself now. Do what's best for you, James. James... You made me happy After that last line I cried not as man or boy I cried because I was human
