When I was in high school, I remember a psychology class where we were made to read an article about children's drawings and how they can be used to analyse a child's perception on things like abuse and violence. The teacher brought us some examples, and I remember a drawing which showed a small, child-like body next to a towering, mostly humanoid figure, with a blurry face and huge arms and hands which were slightly longer than its legs. The hands were drawn as red open palms, which gave a feeling of them being blood-covered. Needless to say, once I played SH3, I could somewhat tell what the design of the Closer was representing. Nice to see there's always more than meets the eye when it comes to SH!

6:41 The woman that The Closer is feasting on is Angela from Silent Hill 2, it could have been reusing assets or just a cameo. However by using her it aligns with the deeper meaning behind The Closer monster that devours vulnerable women. Angela's main fear was her past abuse and Heather at the beginning of the game is seen at the cafe and it connects back to Angela who used to work at cafe and endured harassment before entering silent hill. Heather receives odd messages from someone depraved via phone and written messages too, linking the two together. This may have been parts of the original story of Silent Hill 3 before Konami got it overhauled for being too explicit.

The photo of the mouth with red lipstick both with and without braces also are very reminiscent of a still image that is popular from Twin Peaks, one of Laura Palmer giving an eerie look to the camera

I remember when I was living in the temple and everyone was called to recite the lotus sutra in the shrine because someone passed away and the abbess, a fun and outgoing buddhist nun loves to talk to us students and said to imagine the person who passed, being carried away happily on a lotus flower to the pureland or heaven to lay people

Great to see another SHS video, especially on SH3. The Closer is a rather interesting for many reasons including that it's the first enemy Heather encounters. It's like she's facing both her first enemy in societal standards for women, and Alessa's first enemy, her own mother. I love how SH3 got right so many things about women's struggles.

I always love the extra depth in discussing the Closer enemy in SH3. The closer is one of my favorites in the series, the Buddhist connection fascinates me in more ways i can say.

The closer scene where it is eating a women, I thought the body resembled Angela (like the character model, though it could of just been a reused asset, but I think it's deeper then that), she was an abused women, who had a twisted body image of herself, due to constant abuse.
