I did see a reddit post, so grain of salt, that the designer of Pyramid Head made a "white" pyramid head that was detached from James. I can buy that as a concept. James' executioner being the red pyramid thing whereas other versions exist for other worlds.

@@GlycerinGhost I liked the idea that James’ guilt and journey impacted Silent Hill’s psychic/spiritual realm so much that the Pyramid Head executioner was left as a constant imprint upon the town, similar to how often the Nurses appear. So although the original Red Pyramid Thing was a part of James’ personal hell warped by the town’s history of execution, it left a permanent mark on the town, to where now The Executioner can appear in many forms when dealing with particular forms of guilt and self hatred while also acting as a mediator between victim and place (White Pyramid Head, that one that spears an angel in the comic, the one(s) from the movie series, etc). It’s a neat way to explain why he’s still around, and I think having it as a part of the town isn’t so bad so long as it and other recurring elements can be justified and don’t smother new ideas. Plus, it makes him more unique: whereas other elements of the town are generally just messed up monsters, Pyramid Head seems to double as both punisher and protector, being shown to kill himself when no longer needed and help victims reach their goal. For once, I’d like to see the SH1 pterodactyls return, those were awesome.

Piggybacking on this, I'll say positively, I think James' new look fits the broken man that he is. You can say the original looked stoic, or, "pure/innocent" by comparison. But knowing WHAT he did, it's hard to think he wouldn't come out of that unscathed by the time the game starts, even if you can bury those secrets in your own mind.

Not exactly, the problem is some fans don't understand something that Team Silent said with SH4, each game is different, and that's true bc the game scan the mind of the characters, can't be the same Alessa's nightmare all the time. That's why the world of Anita, isn't the same of James, or Travis, or Murphy, or Alex, or either Heather. There isn't a formula. Silent hill is an antology, not a game of sequels.

And I wrote SH1 was reimagined as Shattered Memories so I dunno where you got remake from -- remakes are dysmal efforts in trying to capture what's already gone. SH3 was a last minute effort to conjure up a sequel to 1 after the 2nd one failed, half of its budget wasted on first making it an on-rails shooter and then numerous script rewrites. Why remake any of these if only reimaginings are able to bring anything genuine to the table.

That's the point of Homecoming, he is already gone like Jacob Singer, his family didn't missing him, but Elle surely do, so by her pray, he returns, he gets back for her love, similar of James with Maria, Alex the soldier, that's a manifestation of the town. Don't forget the good ending is in the fog world, probably Elle will lose Alex once she reach the real world, the deal of the town was, he gets back to revenge those kids, the mission was accomplish, soldier. Very well put together. I played Silent Hill 1, then went to jail, went to jail again, then to prison, over a self defense case, so gaming in my 20s wasn't really a thing. The first movie I didn't like, because I never saw those creatures, but now I get it. I thought both movies nailed the atmosphere of Silent Hill, & they were actually really gory, & I like horror movies like House of 1000 Corpses. I actually really love both movies & part 1. The cartoon show I couldn't stomach half an episode & fell off. The first game was fantastic. I don't want to watch anything about 2, so as to not spoil the remake, which Bloober, an indie developer turned AA with this Remake, has also nailed the atmosphere, & nailed the cutscenes as well, they look great. The gameplay looks really fun, I'm very happy with RE2 & 3 remakes with the over the shoulder shooting, but yes, it does look like a PS4 game, especially the enemies. That can be fixed, we shall see. I'm very excited for this game & plan on supporting the developers with my purchase, in the hopes Konomi publishes another Remake down the road. As far as the prison game that ended the series, I did watch some of it, and they nailed what prison looks like, it's very accurate. I thought the cop falling off the cliff was angreat touch, but decided tomstop watching YT in case theres ever a Remake or I get a remaster or a PS3. Anyway, besides Resident Evil & The Last of Us, Silent Hill is THEE other horror franchise. Dead Space fans fell off at part 3, & Calsito is only 1 game, not a franchise. A Plague Tale I suppose can be counted, but the horror genre as a whole in this industry is dry & full of cheap thrills I'm not interested in.

In defense of those 4 frames: James does not looked shocked or numb. He looks depressed and miserable. Like he already knows something's wrong. He touched his cheek and slightly drags his hand like a drama...After getting a letter from his wife that died 3 years ago... Why is that first frame with him dragging an open palm over his face from head to chin without touching it important? Short answer : lucid dream check. Here are common reality checks that people use: Mirrors. Check your reflection to see if it looks normal. Solid objects. Push your hand against a wall or table and see if it goes through. Some people push their fingers into their opposite palm. Hands. Look at your hands. Do they look normal? Time. If you’re dreaming, the time on a clock will constantly change. But if you’re awake, the time will barely change. Breathing. This popular reality check involves pinching your nose and seeing if you can breathe. If you can still breathe, you’re dreaming. Vision: Do you have perfect vision? This only works for people who have at least slightly blurry vision in the waking world. Alternatively, if you have perfect vision in the waking world, you may have blurred vision in the dream world. "Over time the hand trick appears to stop working. (Read the 'breathing' section). @@shaynehughes6645 Ruin my day? Not at all. My day went by the same . I was disappointed in the dev studio, made this comment, went by and did my stuff without having this at the front of my mind. Or even thinking about it. You just reminded me i even commented this with the youtube notifications . To criticize a game for liberal or shallow adaptations or reimagination of original scenes as you let x seconds ruin your day is shallow and not a well founded argument sir. There's a lot of subtle symbolism in silent hill and specific stuff that really showed how each of the characters suffered mentally in their own way. What james did is a way to check if you are awake or dreaming. He did something similar here but not that impactful or obvious at first glance. He also looks like shit. Not graphical wise but his face gives too much away. We already know and he seems to know too. He's not numb and confused. Shame to see that such a classic that holds up well even today is being changed like this to suit more forced drama moments to appeal to current audience. James has no reason to react like that at the end of the trail when he smashes his hands on the ground after everything he's been through. Drama for the sake of drama and a stain on adapting but i will hold my final opinion to witness the full release. As long as they don't change it too much it should still be great.
