Silent Lake truly deserves its name. The place is very peaceful and relaxing, making it the ideal escape from the stress of daily life and the noise of cities.

I had a laugh when you were setting up your camp, it looked pretty hard. Your husband has a great laugh! Great kayaking and musquitos were a pain... Hiking, i guess you better go prepared. Thanks for the tips!

Silent Lake is one of my favourites. But ya, the skeeters are intense! I always have a thermocell, but I would not attempt it in June or July without a screen room at camp, and bug jackets with face covers for the trails. Plus a bug zapper racket on hand for the camper as well. I'm a little envious that you got to enjoy calm water! That lake can be very windy. Glad you liked it as much as I do!

Oh we loved this park! Definitely want to return for fall or winter camping if we can. Good tip about the mosquito protection! We don't have a screen for our dining tent but should have been using our face bug nets for sure.

Another great video! Thank you for sharing your experience at Silent Lake. I was there in Sept 2021 with my mother & aunt in September. Unfortunately we hit a week with a lot of rain and I couldn’t check out the trails. I appreciate when you share your thoughts and experiences on them. We were at site 132. I believe it was worst than yours. It was down in a valley with poor drainage. It was an experience!! I do want to return to Silent Lake. I did enjoy it. We did have 1 gorgeous day to walk in the water at the beach. Looking forward to your next Ontario Parks review video. Happy camping!

Thanks so much! Some of the sites there were definitely not ideal. But we really enjoyed the park overall. Hopefully you can get back on a visit with better weather to really experience the trails and beaches!

This one seems more of a park to get away and not run into mass people. It's not as busy looking as the last spot. I appreciate the shade. Buggy and non linear on the ground. At least you guys made the most of it. Always down for a kayaking trip. The brewery looked great. The trails all seem great and the seclusion of the place seems to off set the stinky toilets 😂.

Howuch was this park per night to stay at?
@TheAverageTourist5 ай бұрын
We try to make the most of our camping even in bad weather. The parks range in price per night but I think it was about $45 CAD plus tax

Been going to Silent Lake since I was 12, that’s 46 years. Great place to fish, canoe, swim, kayak and enjoy the tranquility. Kawartha Dairy is very generous with their Ice cream and continues to be. I now have a 28 foot travel trailer which no longer will fit most sites at this park. Tent camping is still an option. Lots of great memories here! Bugs seemingly have gotten worse here however
@TheAverageTourist4 ай бұрын
Yes the park is definitely more friendly to smaller rigs and tent camping. It's a beautiful park and we will definitely return!

I enjoyed the video and love your sunglasses, anyway we were were on our first outing a week ago and yes the insects were overpowering. Last year we purchased a clam shelter and would not go without it. I know Bancroft and area well because of my interest in minerals, and it is the mineral capitol of Canada.
@TheAverageTourist6 ай бұрын
Thanks so much! Got em at a fleaarket in Port Elgin. Didn't know that Bancroft was a mineral capitol... that's pretty cool! Bugs haven't been as bad the last couple of weeks luckily, but they were quite aggressive that weekend! Might have to look into a clam shelter for future.

Oh gosh with all those mosquitoes I probably would left there with an allergic reaction if I didn’t have the proper tools. So it’s a must for me to have a net and bug repellent if I visit here.

We have to bring kayaks and don’t have a roof rack. I see you have the clip on kind. Do they stay well? Do they scratch the paint in the truck? What brand did you get ? Thanks.

We have the Thule kind and the j hooks are standard ones from Princess auto. We haven't noticed any issues with the paint.
