As soon as I saw the actor that played the manager of the toy store I right off the bat remembered him from Father of the Bride. He had a cameo as the assistant manager in the grocery store when Steve Martin is complaining about the package of 12 Hotdog buns due to the fact that he only want to buy 8 of them to go along with just 8 hotdogs and didnt want to pay for all 12 buns in the package.

I have all of the SNDN films. Very classic and fun to watch. I would love to hear your thoughts on Intruder which is another horror classic which came out in 1989. Thats the one that takes place in a grocery store. In fact I think its the only one that takes place in a grocery store.

That’s one i’m going to review pretty soon. I’ve never seen it but I started it on Tubi and decided I would rather watch it on physical lol

From an IMDB review by "doctorsmoothlove" dating back to December 2009: "I didn't plan on making a series of my review of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, but there are so many terrible Christmas-themed films that I think it would be a good idea. Each year I will review at least one turkey involving our favorite secular holiday. This year's entry is Silent Night, Deadly Night which I saw for the first time at Carousel (independent movie theater in Greensboro, NC). According to the theater's owner, original prints of the movie (which is how I saw it) are very rare since the film's subject matter encouraged people to destroy their copies. The film was released in 1984 and caused immediate public discourse due to its depiction of a killer wearing a Santa Claus costume. There was even a TV ad which displayed the costumed killer picking up his axe. It was pulled immediately and parents protest theaters not to play the film."

I don’t blame parents at all for this. At the time in 84 this could be incredibly traumatic for a kid. Thanks for sharing this with me. I really appreciate it.

@@LetsTalkEntertainmentMedia According to the review, people still own theatrical copies of Silent Night Deadly Night dating back to when Tri-Star first released it and caused an uproar, and I find it strange that Shout Factory decided not to restore the original prints. Somehow Shout Factory was able to put the 1973 Saul Bass Warner Bros logo back into the 4k Blu ray of Black Christmas (1974), but they didn't make an effort to restore the original theatrical print to Silent Night Deadly Night. I'm really hoping I get to see that Tri-Star logo on _Silent Night Deadly Night_ including the R rated bumper card at the end.

@donkeywrong2131 I’ve noticed lately that they play around more with the companies title cards. And haven’t been as accurate to the time of release. I just watched Paris Texas on 4K and the company cards in front have all been redone. I know it’s a little thing but I noticed it.

Does this release at least include the Tristar logo at the start of the theatrical version?

@ What about the end credits?

@donkeywrong2131 Theid given credit but no appearance of the logo. At least hey I noticed anywhere in either. Which I find strange.

I can completely understand that. It’s kind of an anti christmas movie.

This one is an easy pass. No need to ever watch the rated version again regardless of a few extra pixels.
