This album is absolutely ridiculous 💣 Next up is ‘Dig Deep’ by After The Burial 🪦 💥
@skyscrapersheaf53002 жыл бұрын
You should listen to the previous ones, obviously! I think Iridiscent is my favourite album of theirs, but my favourite tracks are still from their earlier releases (like Depths II and III, Inhabit the Wound and The Anatomy of Time). They are also (self-)described as christian metal, and it's way more evident from the lyrics on earlier albums. But they are never 'preachy', they are just full of various religious references, so trying to completely understand the lyrics takes you on a real adventure. I mean, their lyrics come with comments, references and trivia written by the authors themselves!

If you love the lyricism in this you really need to check out Everything Was Sound. It’s arguably their best and definitely their deepest record ever. There are less hooks on it but it’s an incredibly amazing album and Garrett kills it on there as always
@The_Horse-leafs_Cabbage2 жыл бұрын
"It's always red, the static in my head" Probably one of the best pre-breakdown lyrics out there. That said, Second Sun, the Sound of Sleep, and Terminal are probably my faves off this phenomenal album. Especially those cleans on Second Sun. The Sound of Sleep, this might seem weird, has always been a sister track in my head to Northlane's Jinn. Both have that climactic feel, but with the some pretty hefty lyrics.
@DrewFortune972 жыл бұрын

Love to see it, definitely one of my favorite bands next to Loathe and Periphery. They just keep getting better too, with significant growth with each album. I dont see Silent Planet slowing down anytime soon. Edit: Garrett is one of the best vocalists in the business. Nasty screams, deep and moving lyrics, and some of the sickest flow in the industry. This guy just knows how to write words to a song Another edit: I see you banging that head to Second Sun, basically my same first reaction. Such a banger of a song, but sad that its one of the least played songs on that album :( alright no more edits, watching the rest through . Love the vids Drew, keep it up my man
@8JFJK82 жыл бұрын
Seen these guys live in 2018 with ABR. I knew they would blow up because they had such a unique sound, great stage presence. Ive listened to this album so much over the last half year. Literally every song is top notch but Panopticon, Terminal, Second Sun, Translate the Night and Sound Of Sleep are probably my favorites. Great reaction as always Drew! Stoked for whatever is next.
@philiplee16242 жыл бұрын
Ooooooh. So, a little backstory. Alex, the drummer, mentioned that this album’s lyrics were very personal for them. All of their previous albums were more about world issues, but this was more about mental health, car accidents, losing your pet, etc. Except for Alive, as a Housefire which was inspired by the BLM movement. Would highly recommend listening to their previous album When the End Began because it’s quite a different vibe overall. Lyrics are just as deep too. Really in all of their albums the lyrics are unmatched.

I’m sure someone has said it but Panopticon has zero guitar in it. The “guitar” part is actually a bass! I think the story is they put guitar strings on a bass and recorded the guitar part like that. Then they used a regular bass with bass strings for the actual bass part. I probably explained that horribly but still insane nonetheless 😂

So pumped when I saw you hit this one, one of the best things to come outta 2021 🙌 found your take on the vocals interesting in terms of him letting the harshness drop out on certain words, something I personally love (and think Flo from LANDMVRKS is a beast). Reckon Sam Carter was one of the first I really heard nail that technique. But Garrett is honestly one of the best I’ve ever heard do it. Surely Polaris soon, either album works but personally The Mortal Coil wins for me 🤟🤟
