In the last shot, when he painted on a lens flare and did auto paint then why the light changes didn't appear on the dark frames. When we have taken the frame from a much brighter source and did auto paint to the darker frame where there is no lens flare then how did luminance work nicely. Am I missing something
@BorisFXco3 жыл бұрын
It's all about which tool you choose. If you choose a tool that works on the same frame (like Drag or Clone with relative frame offset turned on) then Auto Paint should work correctly. The problems really come when you are cloning from a specific frame or from an area of the frame that has local brightness changes (eg a flashing light). If that is happening, then think about which tools you are using, and try to use a different paint technique for those sections. Remember also that tracking is crucial on a moving shot. Without good tracking, your Auto Paint is going to struggle to replicate the shots consistent with the footage. Hope that helps.

Dear Ben, i have one question for you...when i close the project that I did and try to open anew for some fix the Silhouette project on AE or A.Prem the coordination of paints is not displayed correctly and i cant continue work on the same project..what im doing wrong ??
@BorisFXco2 жыл бұрын
Are you trying to apply two copies of the Silhouette plugin to a clip? If so, you need to precompose or nest the clip with the first instance of Silhouette on. Then apply a new Silhouette instance to the precomp. After Effects and Premiere will then feed the correct frames to Silhouette so you can work on. If this is not your problem or I have misunderstood it, please post it on the forums : forum.borisfx.com/ or contact Support : borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/

That's not normal and there's definitely something going amiss there. If you haven't done so already, please open a support ticket so you can get some detailed help. borisfx.com/support/open-a-case/

Any advice on how to remove a camera cable that the camera is hanging from in a camera push move? The cable is in the centre of the shot the whole time and it’s in a forest. Far from idea. I think I’ll tackle it using mocha for the big parts using painted plates and track them back in, but there are so many small branches and twigs I’m thinking it’ll take a ton of smaller tracks and patches. Any tips are welcome.

How long is the shot? There are going to be different ways to tackle this shot, and a lot of it will depend on the background and camera movement creating lots of parallax shift, coupled with the length of the shot and how much time you have to complete it. Can you post the shot to our forums? (forum.borisfx.com) It will be easier to offer advice having seen the shot. Your instincts sound right though. Big piece of advice is to start big and work towards small. You may find that many of the little fiddly bits aren't actually necessary to selling the shot. Worrying about maintaining every detail at the outset will lead to lots of frustration and time wasted that the viewer won't see or appreciate. Post to the forums though and it'll be easier to get to specifics.

Boris FX Thanks for the reply. I was too busy to check back. Too busy painting this shot 😄 I just rotoed the cable, then in AE I patched a few parts across using the lighten method (it’s a snowy forest, so fairly monochrome which helped) I then picked a few prominent branches in the foreground to paint the cable out from and track back in using the remove module. I also did the same when it went under a low hanging tree. It just required lots of painted plates tracked in at certain parts of the shot to sell it. A pain in the ass due to the amount of branches and how small they were in parts, but it worked. I might be able to do a breakdown in a few months after the shot has aired.

Hello, I have question, how about there's something blocking in front of the place I am tracking?
@BorisFXco2 жыл бұрын
Track mattes are the answer here. I don't have a video to link to for Silhouette but here's the concept in Mocha : kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJnaYWuLra6UZ5o&feature=emb_imp_woyt And here is the section in the manual for Silhouette : borisfx.com/documentation/silhouette/#page/silhouette-2022/tutorials-tracker#ww1003898 (scroll down the section that says "Exclude areas While Planar Tracking"

Why is my footage BLACK or BLANK? I'm using a PNG Sequence. It says that PNGs are compatible, so I'm confused. Please Help, Thank You?

Select the footage node in the tree. In the Parameters take a look at the Fill dropdown. Change that to Opaque. If you're still having problems, please join us on the forums : forum.borisfx.com/

How do i render Roto in After Effect as Mask?
@BorisFXco3 жыл бұрын
Select the shapes you want and export the shapes from Silhouette as Silhouette shapes with File > Export > Silhouette Shape. Import this file into After Effects with File > Import > Silhouette Shapes... Find the file you saved and they will appear as After Effects masks.

One thing to try. Go into Silhouette Paint Preferences > GPU and set the mode to CPU. Good luck.

This helped a lot, I'm having issues though, with a random arm moving frame and paint grabbing the new pixels and ruining the rest of the track
@BorisFXco Жыл бұрын
Glad it's helped. Regarding stray pixels, there are a few techniques to help with this. One is to sample from a locked frame. This is basically the equivalent of painting a patch. I would only do this if there were no lighting changes and you are working on a degrained plate. Otherwise it looks pretty obvious. Second is to clone/paint from a different area that doesn't get hit by the arm. Not always possible. The next is to do a second round of paint to fix the areas the got messed up by the arm. If you clone from Output, you may find that you have more good frames to work with. We've just released a Silhouette Rotoscoping and Silhouette Compositing training series. Paint should probably be the next one we focus on. There's a lot of great techniques to discover.
@thai_le_foto Жыл бұрын
@@BorisFXco I'm still slowly getting through the rotoscoping one. the shot was from a non moving background, compositing onto an old tv scene, so I ended up freeze framing it with the parts I needed in view and made it easier for silhouette to paint the stretched clp. But was still looking for ways to learn to do the moving one since not likely will have a still scene often. I learned the output thing through one of the other videos too. It's just weird that even if I told it to only sample from a specific frame, it ignored that and still sampled from new frames =/
@BorisFXco Жыл бұрын
That problem does sound odd. Can you post the question in the forums, maybe with a screenshot or recording of the setup. It will probably be easier to diagnose from that : forum.borisfx.com/ I'm not sure if this video will help too : borisfx.com/videos/si-paint-getting-started-clone-tool-tricks/ There's also a livestream we did has some tricks for painting from single frames, but I don't want to link that unless it will be helpful for your shot.
