I started sewing my clothes many years ago because manufacturers refused to give me pockets in pants. Or, if they were there, it was this miniature fake out pockette that drives me nuts. And my feminist pipes up, “Oscar, let’s take your pockets away and see how you like it! How are you going to pose now?” I’m still not sure why manufacturers decided that ovaries = you don’t need pockets. We had great pockets until ~the 1910s. They returned for a brief flyby in wartime wardrobing, before disappearing once again. Arg! I very much appreciated the pocket darting demonstration, which helps explain some of the odd drafting I’ve seen while comparing various pants patterns.
