Donkey Kong Country was revolutionary (in 1994)
pre-rendered 3D graphics
one of the best game graphics on SNES - kind of a benchmark for the System
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze doesnt look revolutionary anymore
more like Crash Bandicoot than Donkey Kong Country
... and pretty sure no system benchmark!
Nintendo, please bring back the Silicon Graphics workstation-look

Finally! Someone who gets it. The naturalism of the original is all but gone. But it's not too late! They can still wow us with revolutionary graphics again, since even really well done real-time rendering still pales in comparison to pre-rendered CGI. And it would probably run better too.

@@VanguardSupreme i don't know if you know about Playtonic games but they are the Rare devs. That's their own new company now. They have made a Banjo Kazooie, DK64 type of game called Yooka Laylee and a jump n run game called Yooka Laylee and the impossible Lair. If you liked Banjo Kazooie, DK64 etc you should defenitely check out Yooka Laylee. That game is like a modern N64 Rare game. Just amazing.

+Turbo Grafx I agree with you in most part, but if you remember Nintendo start losing ground on the market the time N64 was not a cd-based concole and most of third party delevopers went to Sony i.e. Square published Final Fantasy for the PlayStation. Same with Sega back in the 80s; they were struggling with the Master System because Nintendo had agreement with software companies to publish games only for the NES. With no 3rd party support and only Sega's titles, Master System never took off to compete with NES. Personally I believe this is the worst generation of consoles hardware-wise; I hope I will be able to buy WiiU when the new Zelda comes out in 2016. Thank you for sharing your thoughts :)

The Silicon Graphics were powerful computers (at the time) used to produce DKC pre-rendering.
