I had got my eyes checked for LASIK in 2007-2008 and I was told that I am not a candidate as my cornea is thin. I again got myself checked after 3 - 4 years at a different hospital and again I was told the same. Then an eye specialist again checked me for LASIK and told me that I am a PRK candidate and as the procedure has evolved, I should definitely go for the PRK. I was however not confident, because my earlier checks were at major eye hospitals, that specialize in LASIK, so I didn't opt for the procedure. Now I am a little over 40, have recently got reading glasses. I see that the process has evolved further and I am thinking again to get myself evaluated for the treatment. What will be your recommendation.

Silk is a new name of smile , how much is the refractive error and corneal thickness both are important for taking decision, we do correction after 19-20 yrs after this age more or less refraction gets stabilise , 100% stability does exist , but refraction remains stable from 20 to 40 yrs

Well, if your eye has a significant amount of abberations to the point where it would make a great difference if you correct them then Contoura is the better choice. However if your abberations are minimal to the point where correcting them would not improve your vision significantly then SILK is a better choice as there's no flap complications. Also remember that flap complications are very very rare and they are treatable. It's said that usually when there's a flap dislocation, there was enough trauma to the eye where flap dislocation is the least of the worries. If you are into contact sports and have minimal abberations, SILK definitely makes more sense. TLDR: Depends on the amount of abberations. Minimal abberations: SILK better, Many abberations: Contoura better
