Thanks Abid for so freely sharing your vast knowledge. I’m very new to silk painting. I’ve painted just one small piece yet. It looked good until I washed it. After I washed it to remove the gutta, it removed the colours also. I mean the colours were not completely removed but got scratches all over even though I washed it very very softly. I used setasilk colors. But my fabric was not 100% silk. What could be the reason?

Thank you so much for your appreciation . Pebeo seta silk? The big reason is that fabric was not pure silk. Polyester nylon mixed fabrics are not a good choice for silk painting. Try to get pure silk for painting. Did you iron the fabric from both sides?

Chimois silk 80g . silk fabric can't be soft if you are using dark tones. Use mediu. Or light tones for background

Hello. I made my first fabric paint on silk. I think the silk quality was not that great so which one do you suggest? Also my flower petals bled paint even after gutta. What am I doing wrong

All pure silks are good for silk painting. you can paint any type of pure silk with silk paints. may be you did not apply the proper gutta that's you faced that problem. one more thing over loaded brush with paint is also cause of color bleed. let the gutta dry completely if there is no break in gutta. may be you were applying wet brush on the gutta again and again and your gutta dissolved. thick fabric is also a Couse..

I live to paint medium silk, chimois, and chiffon. You can buy any online store. I buy fabric from my nearest market.

Salem aleykoum, thanks a lot for sharing , it's very useful. Please in case we use other colours of gutta, i've just read in your video not to wash the gutta. I tried before washing a handpainted scarf but the gutta didn't wash well and it sticks to the fabric. My question is: if we don't need to wash the couloured gutta, then one day we would need to wash it!! how can we avoid the problem of the gutta sticking to the fabric? Ws golden, silver, copper and black guttas give the beauty to your design and painting so no need to try to take out these colored guttas. If you are trying to remove transparent gutta and will not remove properly from fabric that's mean your gutta brand is not good. I used marabu transparent gutta in my videos and that one takes just 3 to 4 minutes after diping in water

And yes you can wash your fabric anyways when ever you want to wash but make sure 1st fix your colors 1st according to the compnay brand instructions than wash the fabric under tab water

Hello.. I m starting to paint with silk colours.. M new to this... I have ordered pebeo setasilk colours and pebeo setasilk water based gutta outlinear. Do i need to wash cloth to remove gutta? .. And can you tell me process that to do after applying colour.. I mean m asking if it needs to iron or steam??

I explained the process in detail after painting with silk paints and transparent gutta(water based). Pebeo seta silk are iron fixed. Iron the fabric from both sides. no need to remove colored guttas because colored gutta is beautify the fabric. transparent gutta need to be removed . watch the video carefully and if you want to ask any question you can ask .

Actually when I was ordering pebeo setasilk gutta i saw that some sites shows pebeo setasilk gutta price near about rs 1400 for one tube of gutta and some sites are showing that one tube of gutta pebeo setasilk is of rs 264 ... Why is there huge difference in price.?? I want to ask is both are same gutta or they are different?

There is no need to steam the fabric after painting if you used iron fixed silk paints. So iron the fabric after painting from both sides and then wash if you make an outline with transparent gutta.

Yes you can but make sure base color should be very light other wise your colors result will be very dull because silka paints are transparent

All the hand painted fabric should be treated softly and carefully. Don't rub the fabric in any case . No matter you are using most expensive brands or local brands. Add little washing powder in water and dip your any painted fabric for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes take out fabric and wash in normal water.

After ironing the silk fabric, wash it in a tub with water and 1 tablespoon of washing powder. Then rinse in clean water. Avoid rubbing the silk and do not soak for more than 2 to 3 minutes.

Yes but if you are using steam fixed dyes or colors. I used iron fixed silk paints thats why. And gutta is water based
