I ride akhaltekes that are all year kept out in the fealds. They live and breed naturally. They are healthy and phisically stabile. Don t like what they are doing to these horses in the movie. I can see they are not happy.

Question: I always was under the impression that "heavenly horses" were "war horses," that is heavy, large horses similar to knights horses. Is that incorrect?
@bluesytb6 жыл бұрын
Kenneth N. Shortlidge yes. Tekes/Turkomens are/were fine boned, but very tough. Horses from central asia are far lighter than what would be known as destriers (medieval war horses from europe)
@tangra681d24 жыл бұрын
They are war horses. In ancient times the steppe nations that used them like the bulgars would train them to fight in battle alongside the warriors.
@RuthKarowRUTHGABRIELE3 жыл бұрын
Watch how big the Persien Kingdom was in ancient times. They controlled it all with those horses.
@ineshvaladolenc65593 жыл бұрын
They are not as heavy as coursers (most modernday drafts, which also descend form them, though slightly smaller) But also smaller than destriers (e.g. the Spanish breeds) They, along with Arabs, Islandic horses (some call them ponies), Mongolian horses (again, some, due to their size, call them ponies) are classified as rounceys. Small but tough horses, with great stamina, often high agility, speed - some are even gaited, and overall lower provisionary upkeep than the bigger European breeds of the time, were perfect for skirmishing and popular with horse archers.

Nice to see a farm setting up to preserve the breed. I hope they adhere to the bloodline. Tekes are not the most expensive horses in the world, by a long shot. They are pretty rare though.
@lauratanln Жыл бұрын
Farms exploit animals by artificially inseminating them by force. It's not ethical to breed animals to exist and suffer from exploitation as slaves for humans. Horses were on earth millions of years longer than human developed. Now in this 21st century we need to breed them?

It was cool seeing them ig trying to keep the breed alive. Until it was all about them🙄”make art of the horses, documentaries, movies, etc. till then we’re the biggest akhal teke horse farm...” then i seen they’re just money greedy. Hopefully horses get taken care of and let out of stalls to run and play, not stay in stalls just to “keep them clean” and look pretty.

Common misconception that the Teke's are an unhindered breed in terms of their genetics, but it is not quite accurate. Claims that they have provenance to the Scythian peoples of the central Steppes is largely the fallacial stories of the modern Turkmen regime who rewrite and revise their histories to validate their own strange form of nationalism
