I said making the game _better,_ not _worse._ which usually means diversifying artwork, adding more intricate detail, ensuring little things like an ice attack melting when it hits some small unimportant thing that reasonably should be hot like a lightbulb are added, thereby making the world more interactible and feel like a place rather than an obstacle course, making the characters more lifelike and diverse both in terms of individually and adding more, and changing around the environment to make it feel and be better. Polishing what you have to a pristine shine. I realize now that these words could be taken drastically differently depending on their tone. To avoid confusion and hostility, the tone of the text above this is: confusion in the first sentence, neutral tone in the second, and the rest is me explaining passionately about something I like.

And it makes total sense because it's Hornet vs Shade Lord after all. It also makes sense that some of Hornet's theme is present whereas the Knight doesn't have any theme present in any of the themes, because Hornet has a "voice" to speak, whereas the Knight doesn't.

Oh my GOD! AH! This is so good! Seriously, I love this so much. It's such a unique sound, with some of the choral elements (getting heavy Shriek and Ori, from WotW vibes), but still feels distinctly Hollow Knight, especially with the strings. I love all the leitmotifs, calling back to Sealed Vessel, the main theme, Hornet's theme... The idea I'm inferring from this (and the artwork), that the Shade Lord from the Godmaster ending is the final boss, and it's Hornet fighting it? Ah, that's so cool! And this perfectly captures it, I think- it'd be such a different fight, and feel to anything else in the game. Absolutely incredible work, please continue making music man, you're amazing!

Apex of the Abyss - THE SHADE LORD Absolutely FANTASTIC!!! It's so fitting with the style of Hollow Knight's musical style while also applying Silksong's seeming inclination over string instruments across it's own. Not to mention how ominous and opressive the "Heart of the Abyss" part is contrasting with "Queensoul"'s strained hope. It's so powerful and memorable, and i can only hope the real thing can provide something just as incredible as this. Amazing work overall!

I love how it goes from the usual vessel motif into Hornet’s theme! And something about that part right at the end, before Hornet’s theme comes in (right near here 6:47 I think), made me think of the Radiance fight. Not sure how, just an odd feeling. This song feels like a passing of the torch in a way, like this is what solidifies Hornet as her own separate character, not just a character in another’s world. No longer is it Hollow Knight: Silksong, it is instead now simply: *Silksong.*

This is SOOOO good. I imagine the first phase being you fighting "the knight", well, at least whats left of him, and then on the inbetween we have a cutscene where the knights shell breaks open and the shade lord finally breaks free, revealing his true strengh. You fight him a while, untill you eventually get him into a Radience style escape phase, where your "Silk-soul" (a combination of the silk of spiders and soul of the higher beings, which Hornet unites) gains in strengh and like the shades in Radience, you start winning and taking the upper hand. Ending in finishing the shade lord off, perfectly timed with the music ending. I cant wait to see it all myself.......... in about a thousand years:)

The first part of the song gives me the vibe of someone researching or discovering something, perhaps some kind of weakness, or plotting a way to defeat this great foe Around minute 2 it transitions into this moment of actually preparing this plan that he's concocted. Around minute 3 the preparations are finished and this person is anticipating the arrival of the great foe Around minute 4 the great foe arrives the person is seeing his plan unravel as his theories and plans are put into practice. Around minute 5, through minute 6 they continue to clash against each other in battle Lastly, nearing the end of the song the battle sees itself a winner.

Genuinely the vibes transferred through the music are so strong. Something specific that I heard in the song is the strong bee energy in phase 2, which gave me a sort of eldritch desperation vibe. You've broke down its physical form. It's out of the energy needed to present in a logical way. The end of Phase 1 also really does well to demonstrate the hope of finally striking the killing blow and having it on its last legs then you stab it in the heart and what comes out isn't blood but eldritch and horrible power and intelligence. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I'm just trying to process this music beyond the way that it's clearing out my entire brain. I wish you success. Keep making this beautiful music. I will be listening to your whole body of work. My brain chemistry is destroyed. May you become rich and famous. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. It's so clear how much love and effort and tweaking went into creating this piece and I've already gone through your other Hollow Knight related stuff and I don't know how your two area themes didn't get traction because I really love them. In all honesty, this song must be the best song I have ever heard. From the start to the finish, there was a beutiful composition of synergy between all the major themes in Hollow Knight, like, for example, The Hollow Knight's theme, Hornet's theme and many others which all combined together with the excellent playing of the violin, make a canvas that in it of itself is THE definition of Hollow Knight's music. I suggested the idea of a void related song for the Silksong series like a year ago. I don’t know weather that’s why you made the song but it’s awesome regardless. It sounds like that as you fight the shade lord you are slowly spiraling down into the void, getting farther and farther from the beautiful shining citadel at Pharloom’s peak.

But it wasn't until I got the idea of weaving Hornet's theme into the final boss theme that this song really started coming together in my mind. I love how it has the background creepiness of the void, but on top of that it's aggressive due to the Lord of Shade's will and wrath. Then there's the sealed vessel theme, signifying the tragic past, which quickly becomes threatening, as that old self is gone. There's the chanting, which shows the LoS's divinity, just like the Radiance. And then there is Hornet's theme, as she gains the power to win (queensoul, cool idea). And now I wonder if/how Hornet's theme will appear in Silksong. Unlike in Hollow Knight where the main themes show up when you discover important things, Hornet isn't connected to Pharloom (that we know of). I'm sure it'll show up somewhere, but she's not a boss this time.

While hearing this song i imagine in phase 1 all of Pharloom joining you in the figth and this being shown in gameplay as them being part of the background as you pass through the void creatures attacking the city. In hearth of the abyss i imagine the shade lord taking everyone out and holding them with its tendrils; and in phase 2 start i imagine Hornet seeing the souls of the weavers and her mother just as the void start to take over her soul, the scream at the start being her ripping away her own arm to escape before the figth starts. In queensoul i imagine the abomination about to give an undodgable attack rigth as hornet's eyes glow, not orange, not white, neither red, but with a gold ligth that burns the tentacles away, then she starts to climb through the now destroyed citadel and freeing citisen after citisen as she climb her way up again to the top to strike the darkness for a last time.

found a crazy reddit theory and thought i would copypaste it here bc i think its neat: The Final Boss What do you think the last boss will be? From what we’ve seen so far the main antagonist for most of the game is likely to be Lace. As an aside, does anyone else get an arrogant vibe from Lace? Wondering if it’s just me. I feel like it’s safe to assume that Lace will be fought multiple times in the game and that she’ll be the final boss. But, as with the previous game and its many inspirations, there’s likely to be multiple “final bosses.” Likely a transformed version of Lace will be fought first, and then some sort of transition will occur that leads to the “true” final boss. Similar to The Hollow Knight(THK) and Radiance. With Lace serving a similar gameplay role as THK. But what comes after that? It’s also worth noting the religious or godly role of The Radiance, as well as some of the religious imagery(bells, incense burners, and religious-themed attire) in the Silksong trailer. For this reason, I think the ending fight will have the player fighting a transformed Lace, which is then immediately followed up with something more “omnipotent” or “godly.” I guess my question is, what do you guys think the final boss will be? I’ve been entertaining the thought of something that isn’t a bug. I have no reason for this, I just think it feels right. Perhaps something plantlike, fungal, or maybe something way out of left field like the jellyfish from the first game. The idea that intrigues me most is the possibility of something that would naturally be much larger in comparison to everything else in the game. Like a predator that preys on bugs in the real world. Like, say a bird of some kind, a large bat, an engorged toad, or some other mammal/reptile that feeds off of bugs and insects in the real world. Hell, maybe even a large spider that fills a big part of the screen. Another Aside: I gotta say, it’d be really nice to have a really dramatic and satisfying boss fight with an enormous spider. It did always feel like the original game’s Deepnest was lacking an “area boss.” Nosk didn’t quite fill that role. Nosk felt more like the optional, halfway milestone through Deepnest. On my first and subsequent play-throughs I always felt like it was one of the game’s stronger areas. But it felt anticlimactic without a more major boss. It feels like something should have been guarding Herrah’s dreamer mask. Whatever the last boss is, it is likely prayed to or worshiped. Perhaps the god that they pray to would be, in their eyes, a monstrous one, if they knew what it truly was. Maybe they believe their god, which has little to no living witnesses, is an omnipotent power or force. But in reality, it’s just a predator animal that has tricked most of them into praying for it so it can prey on them. Silksong’s namesakes, Silk and Song could also play into this. Silk being what is given and song is what is taken. Let me explain. Silk could be the gift or incentive for Pharloom’s worship. (Likely given from a spider or harvested from one. Which could support the theory that their god is actually a deceptive spider. A strong possibility I see is a spider that has killed all other arachnids, and it has claimed Pharloom for its own through the use of deception. But there could be other methods a spider might use to obtain control over a kingdom of bugs.) Under the guise of gift or payment, the silk may actually be used to control and keep Pharloom dependent on their “god.” Perhaps their infrastructure and society in general have been purposefully made dependent on silk and by extension, Pharloom’s worship. If it really is a spider and not some other predator, then this could also be a poetic way of saying that the spider is controlling Pharloom and turning it into its own personal web. When the people of Pharloom are “gifted” with silk from the spider, they spread it through Pharloom and are essentially tricked into creating the spider’s web for it. Song is likely related to the many bells found in Pharloom which likely hold a religious significance. They may even act as a symbol or depiction of one bell in particular. Or even as a symbol representative of an idea or concept. One way or another, I believe it’s possible that bells in this game are literally or figuratively “dinner bells.” Bells, in this way, would serve as a literal or figurative connection or communication to Pharloom’s god. Perhaps there is a true bell that truly does directly communicate with their god. Maybe this supposed “single true bell” acts as a “dinner bell” for whatever beast is preying on Pharloom. And all the lesser bells we see throughout Pharloom are representations of the “single true bell.” This bell likely signals to (what I will from here on out refer to as The Beast God) that a sacrifice is prepared. To summarize, SILK is what is given to Pharloom by The Beast God, incentivizing Pharloom to continue praying. But this silk is actually used to control and manipulate, much like a puppeteer would. It may also be tricking Pharloom into building a web around itself. To summarize, SONG, which is played/made with bells is a representation of Pharloom’s unknowing sacrifice to an unknown monster. This song is actually a bell toll that is used by an individual or group to communicate with The Beast God that a sacrifice is prepared. Silk is given. And song is taken. Silksong. However, the truth of The Beast God is likely kept hidden from most of Pharloom. The people of Pharloom likely believe that their “generous” god gives them silk and all it asks for in return is a song to be played by the “single true bell.” But this bell song (that likely reverberates through Pharloom) is actually just The Beast God consuming citizens of Pharloom. This would mean that in a macabre sense, every time the bell tolls, Pharloom celebrates the death and consumption of one of their own. Perhaps this is the truth of Pharloom Team Cherry has laid out for Hornet and the player to uncover. There are probably some that are aware or partially aware of The Beast God’s true intentions, or actively support it or benefit from it. Or those that actively go against and defy it (similar to how the Mantis tribe abstained from The Wyrm King’s rule). The Beast God likely uses many manipulation tactics to control and keep most of Pharloom naive to its existence. This would likely be vaguely reminiscent of real-world predatory dictatorships and theocracies. Lace’s involvement could fit into this in one of two ways. Either trying to protect Pharloom from the truth of The Beast God that Hornet ultimately uncovers(assuming the good ending is achieved, because let’s face it, there’s gonna be multiple endings). Or, what I feel is more likely considering her seemingly arrogant and superior attitude I mentioned in the beginning of this post, assisting it and doing its bidding. I suppose she could also be getting manipulated by The Beast God. But I feel like my theory related to her arrogance and feelings of superiority is more likely. Woah, I didn’t intend to write that much lol. I just meant to ask what y’all thought the last boss could be and leave it there 😬. I have more to say about this theory, like how Hornet is involved in this theory and why she was captured. But I have GOT to stop writing lol. What do y’all think of my theory? From 'Pharloom’s Folly' by the Conductor Romino” The definition of folly, in case it’s needed - Lack of good sense; foolishness. "an act of sheer folly" In the poem titled Pharloom’s folly, “they” likely refers to the people of Pharloom. While “you” likely refers to The Beast God. The speaker/writer/Ramino seems to be saying that the “folly,” mistake or foolishness of Pharloom is “seeing” “beauty”, “peace”, or something divine in nature. But Ramino also says “When you wake they shall see your truth, A beast’s nature bare to all.” A beast you say…? Hmmmm… sounds familiar The poem says that the people of Pharloom are making a foolish mistake by giving their faith and toil to a monster. mic drop! Okay, now I’m certain my theory is true.
