Exactly. I could watch 5 videos of him talking about the same subject and he's still fun. He's so excited and happy about his work!

really fun to watch this, he's got a great energy. I'd love to see the Yamaha factory in person, he makes it sound awesome! The bass is incredible. It's far too advanced for my skill level, but wow - just absolutely singular features! So cool, and I feel like it would make a fantastic post-apocalyptic combat weapon as well, it's so durable!

Great thing to hear. It’s so tempting to “simply” go get that bass….. I’ce heard before about the crystallization of the sap and vibration resolving them when someone was wondering about the tonal quality of a guitar which was “just hanging” at the wall. Thing was that it was the wall of their rehearsal room where they were playing pretty loud.

sillennium I've since watched Billy's video tour of the Yamaha factory and the making of his signature bass and it really is all it says it is, better save my nickels, like to have one of these basses, they look like a dream to play with the extra mile gone to get the strings as low to the body as possible. I recommend watching that video.

5:27 McCartney played a Rickenbacker 4001 on that. Starting with Paperback Writer/Rain he only used the Hofner live, and then on the Let It Be album to get the early sound again.

I should say, rock bassist. Within the context of a rock song I've never heard anyone who both supplies the low end groove and throws in so many technically difficult and tasteful "shenanigans. Billy seems so comfortable with a bass I get the impression he could play anything he has a mind to.

Neck snapping.... did they ever do the 3 screw "neck tilt" - thingy on Precision Basses back in the days at Fenders? I can't say that my 1964 has that problem, nor my 2016 MiM Precision 50's Classic. I had some 70's Jazz Basses in my hand that did that.
