Encountered this silly motorbiker during an easy lap at the Nordschleife with my Porsche 991.2 GT3RS.
He was so caught up in his own world that he believed he was racing a superbike :D
Driver & bike were fine. Just mowed the lawn a bit.
All jokes aside, this happens often though with bikers during Tourist Drives at the Nordschleife. A lot of them just do not look in the mirror which could be very dangerous. After he took up all of the track for a couple of corners he went off at Adenauer Forst so it's obvious he was not familiar with the track. So please bikers, it's not a problem if it's your first time on track but just go into it easy and take it step by step until you know the track by hart and don't forget to LOOK BEHIND YOU. Thanks!//.

What would your advice be for someone lapping the ring for the first time? Wich are the most tricky/dangerous points of the track? Thanks! like always great video!
@RingRennSport
@RingRennSport 5 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks. Sure, here are some tips from what I’ve learned over the years and 1000+ laps. 1) Learn the track well before you go on it. So that you know it by hart. Do this with simulation on a Playstation, Xbox & KZbin video’s. This is crucial so you will be a lot more relaxed and less stressed paying attention to where the track goes so that you take the guessing out of the equation. 2) Take it easy the first laps. I don’t mean go very slow because that’s almost even more dangerous because of fast cars that don’t expect you to go slow. Just go average speed but brake well BEFORE a corner and ease into it. VERY important, do not take down your guard after 10 laps when you think you know it. That’s when accidents happen because you overestimate yourself and the car. 3) Always, always & every couple of sec. look behind you. You are more probe to causing a rear end collision then going off the track during the first laps. This is because you will have very fast car’s approaching. When you see someone in your rear view mirror then it means they are faster. Do not do anything sudden like braking hard or anything unexpected. Just swiftly indicate to the RIGHT & drive on the RIGHT -> side. They have to overtake you on the left because of the traffic road rules. 4) Most dangerous parts of the track by far are Schwedenkreuz & Brunchen. Keep some reserve and don’t be a hero. That’s it! Enjoy it, it’s a dream to drive and everything around it just oozes petrolhead passion.

Great driving, amazing car. I just dont seem to get why your honking at this guy while he's going through the corners. It's still a public road, where you'll have to watchout for eachother and leave some space when you can. The first corner he's literally alligning himself to go into it, and you come up his arse honking away if you own the place. Not cool.

Its because of the rear wheel steering. When car is under hard braking the rear wheel will start getting little loose.
@RingRennSport
@RingRennSport 5 жыл бұрын
You are one of the few people that I’ve come across that knows this. The reason it seems is that the rear steering goes back to straight when you brake but it does this not connected to the steering. At least that’s what some people told me when they tested the system on a lift. You really feel this strongly when trying to trail brake. The car just spins out into sudden oversteer. A lot more so that previous 911’s. Greets!

@RingRennSport
@RingRennSport 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks. They are clearly not motorcycle gloves as they would be leather to begin with and have a lot of padding. These are FIA approved car racing gloves. Without them your hands are full of blisters after a hard day of driving. Not to mention having so much sweat on the alcantara steering wheel that it doesn’t grip anymore. Obliviously there is a reason why they make them. :D Greets!

I would also honk on the motorcycle in that situation, so nothing wrong there. But anyone who ride a motorcycle or have ridden it knows that if you are attacking a corner too hard or for example if someone uses the horn on you, you will go straight and miss the corner. The problem is he stopped the preassure on the handlebar for just a second, and there for all the counter steering went out the door. It is the same with a car, you will go were you look :)
@RingRennSport
@RingRennSport 5 жыл бұрын
I see what you are saying but that’s not the caSe here. He was just completely surprised there is a sharp corner there. Look at his entry, he should have been on the right to enter that corner. Plus how he drives it’s clear he had no track experience and that’s fine but then go all over the road and not looking behind you. That’s the reason why I honked so he would notice me and be careful to let me and others pass. Greets.

TurboMoz have you ever been to a track day event? Slower traffic is supposed to move over for faster traffic, end of story. Holding up faster traffic like the bike was doing causes more wrecks than beeping a horn or following a bit too close..AND usually constitutes getting a flag as well to let the faster traffic around.

Dude, that motorcyclist sucked at piloting... Following incorrect lines is ok cuz aint nobody gonna judge you for not having experience on a track, but having horrible body position and awful awareness is on a whole other level of noobness. I myself would never go to such a demanding track until I had built plenty of experience riding on other circuits and, most importantly, skill.

Was there something wrong with the balance of the car (tires, suspension, chassis)? I’m asking because it looks quite nervous in some situations so you‘re alsways correcting with the steering while breaking from higher speed (for example 1:06 2:06 but not at 1:40 🤷‍♂️). I made the experience that the balance of this car is phenomenal: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJy7lJ1uYtl0ntk

Hi Paul, thanks for the comment. I know your driving & work. Great stuff! It’s a combination of multiple things. 1st) from factory the alignment was completely off. So much that I almost crashed the car on my 1st lap on the Nordschleife with it :s All the tires were very in the red except 1. All had very different numbers. Then the dealer corrected this and it feels a lot better but still not 100%. I will do a Manthey setup next season. 2nd) the tires were also really dead. Had done about 60+ laps on them so grip was very tricky 3) I do have the tendency of checking grip when braking before entering a corner hard. That’s why I do shake the wheel a little more that normal. 4) I do feel the back of the car swirling a bit when I brake hard or when trail braking. Spoke to Elöd from Getspeed who drives the 991.2 RS as a Ring taxi and he says he feels the same thing. That the car is not very stable during cornering and it’s more tricky than the 991.1. He says it has to do with the rear wheel steering which does not always follows the wheel when braking but just returns to a straight line which is the reason why it also unsettles the car. Did you drive the new RS on the Nordschleife as well? It feels very different there instead of the flat GP track. But still it’s an amazing car and the speeds that I’m going are very fast. Did a 7:21” with heavy traffic so the car is still the best! Greets!
