A mistake has been brought to my attention. At 2:28 I state that there is a temple on the Meneltarma. There is no temple set up for Ilúvatar. Page 261 describes the mountaintop as a place that is hallowed for Ilúvatar, but that there is no building or other structure there. So sorry for the mistake!

Very well done! I was hoping to find that someone had produced a cgi video of Akallabeth but this is awesome. You’ve obviously done your homework and represented the story accurately. Nice still images to enhance the narration.

One important thing most seem to miss is that the Sailor Kings kept wanting more and more ships.... and to build them they were nearly eliminating all of Numinore's forrests...Rather than think to re-plant, they just went to get them from Middle Earth .... and this need for ship lumber led to the destruction of the old forrest where a squirrel could go far traveling tree to tree...This, of course upset many... even the pukelmen on Numenore who returned home to help guard the forrests....
@lfwinesroad33993 жыл бұрын
You're absolutely right about that. They really did a number on the forests of western Middle-earth.

Great video. Love your narrative style :) I have this educated guess that Tar-Ananamir was the one to become the Witch-King. Timelines kind of work.

I always thought the first age started from the birth of the Sun and Moon and ended with War of Wrath. I did not know it starts from year of the lamps. Even the other sources that I have read don't count the years of lamps and trees as first age. Your videos are amazing. Love the narration. How long have you been a fan of Tolkien? Also I hope your channel grows!
@lfwinesroad33993 жыл бұрын
That's a good observation about the First Age. In actuality, we don't really know its exact start date. All we know for sure is that it's the longest of the ages, and it definitely ends with the destruction of Beleriand :-D You might see timelines that give "Year 1 of the First Age" as the time that the Sun and Moon are created. That can be a little confusing. What that means is simply SUN years. So for example, year 10 of the First Age is just the first 10 sun years of the First Age. But before the Sun and Moon, we have the Years of the Trees - also in the First Age. And before the trees, the Lamps - also in the First Age, etc. Check out this link on my favorite Tolkien info. website. I think it may elucidate the issue: tolkiengateway.net/wiki/First_Age And thank you very much for the lovely compliment! I also hope that more people find my channel - especially if they're beginners in need of a little extra help :-D

@@lfwinesroad3399 Oh okay! Thanks for the source. I used to refer Fandom website and they refer first age to begin with the years of Sun (thus it is just 587 years long and shortest). But the Tolkien Gateway gives a much more detailed description. Thank you so much!

Also.... somewhere I read that Ellendil is descended from the faithful.... but also the eldest child of Elros, who happened to be female and the law had not changed yet for her to claim the monarchy... if it had, the Ellendil line would have veen the rightful kings of Numenor.

You talk of the temple of Iluvatar, but I thought that they worshipped him on Meneltarma where was no shrine nor temple, only a flat area.

You ahve a unique interpretattion pf te timeline. Te First Age is sually the period between the making of the Sun & Moon and the War of Wrath. Years of the Treees is iftej considered a big period before that.
