Getting through the area at 43:02 is annoying. I keep hitting the X button but if you don't have it lined up perfectly you don't phase so you get nabbed.

Thanks for the walkthrough! Really great visuals and sound design, but the gameplay is absolutely abysmal, dropped it around halfway point - non-existent puzzles, annoying controls and constant loading screens.

Since the beginning of the game had that little nursery rhyme-like legend and the Great Machine had thousands of books and prophetic pictures, I assume the Goliaths were a threat for many generations. The four Goliaths we see in the game may not even be all of them. The mysterious animal creature statues may have represented an ancient civilization that DISCOVERED the Goliaths and/or that their eyes held so much energy. They may have even created the nursery rhyme-like legend and humans have transcribed it One thing the Goliaths seem to have in common is darkness, and with the Divers there seems to be a connection with light. As for the soul possession I have no idea where or how they got this ability. But the legend mentioned "sealing (your) fate" as the ultimate goal after the Goliaths were killed and the Machine restored. My guess is that when the Goliaths took over, the ocean became darker and more dangerous for anyone who dared to go near it. I assume they specifically hunt for the Divers or any non-aquatic beings with souls or light since the ancient civilization is never seen, there are Diver corpses (one of which we see INSIDE of a dead Goliath) and there's more sea life in the game than human life. More evidence is the birds from the Kraken Tree which only have an appetite for those weird white glowworm-like creatures; not just because of the whole birds-eat-worms thing but maybe because those particular worms give off light. Eating and/or killing these beings for so long must have GIVEN them the soul energy inadvertently. The darkness gave the Goliaths the advantage since they of course breathe underwater and don't need equipment to see in the dark, but the prophetic pictures in the Machine talk about how it's possible for a Diver to get so much soul energy that they could serve as a beacon and potentially help others navigate the ocean to freedom. I could be reaching but my impression is that by getting the massive energy stores from the Goliaths and awakening the Machine, you light up the entire ocean and thus free all of the hidden/dying/lost Divers that couldn't find their way to the surface and face the Goliaths like you do. This may have been what the Machine was built for but the Goliaths being around could have threatened the lives of the people who used to maintain it (some of the ancient statues reach toward the same kind orbs that are present in the Machine, the ones that light up as you swim past them -- i think this implies the Civilization did a bunch of experiments with Goliath energy). There were four Divers that made this happen but I assume after the Machine was awakened, they were all free to go since the machine had enough energy to light up the whole sea on its own and we see one of them (as per the picture) swimming freely while still filled with energy

@@cjmichaels no, I heard on another video that this trophy is bugged on playstation. I couldn't get it either, and It is the only trophy, with the Immortal one, that I need for the platinum
