That ending hit me a lot harder than I was expecting... After smoking for close to a decade, I finally managed to quit a couple months ago. Something I’d been meaning to do for years, but had always failed at. The only reasons I’ve made it stick this time around were 1.) I lost my job, and 2.) quarantine. So yeah, I “quit” because I had no money to buy more, and no reason to leave the house for a while anyways. Those 2 months have been pretty good to me. My family tells me my skin and my teeth look a lot better since I quit, and I don’t punctuate every sentence with a poorly-disguised cough anymore. I’d even say I sleep better than I used to. But I’m starting a new job soon. I’ll have money again. I’ll have to leave the house and be outside my family’s supervision again. And even though the physical withdrawal was over by the end of the first week, I still *want* a smoke so badly. And I’m starting to realize, this is probably how it’s gonna be for the rest of my life. So, yeah. That bit about “looking awesome, feeling helpless” vibes with me a bit *too* well.

I severely wanna know what Val did to make him as sad and as miserable he was. I can easily tell he hides his actual emotions. In the pilot when he looked sad and regretful towards Charlie, my eyebrows rose to the ceiling, because then and there I knew there was more to him as a character. Then I started thinking back on his career, wondering why, if he's sooo confident in his body and his looks and mannerisms, he wanted to stay at the hotel in the first place. Then I read the prequel comic pages that's so far been posted and went..."ah. .... It's got something big to do with Val doesn't it?" And this song edit came out and my mind just screamed in confirmation that he was, in fact, miserable. I severely wanna know the whole story.
