Damn man.. I've watched a good few videos on here and various other places including DVDs and I honestly think yours was the best at showing and also explaining what you are doing at the same time. It's very nice to have a nice clean view of what you are trying to learn, I love how after you explain while your doing it you then bring it up to the camera and give further detail. Please make more videos, hell make a DVD, I'd buy that in a heartbeat. Seriously, thanks for taking the time to make t

Dear, thank you for your tutorial. What silver do you use ? Foil, leaf or hard silver, like old part of jewelry ? Thank you for your help. Carol

You are going to be looking for 99.9% pure silver. Jewelry often isn’t pure enough, as pure silver is too soft. I used little pellets, that I stuck on the tip of a spare quartz rod (quarts has a higher melting point and keeps its shape better to hold the silver bit). Wire is also available from many sources. Thanks for the question! Glad to help!

Boot Johnson thank you for your answer. I don’t have ti much information because I am from Caribbean. Could you tell me where I can find pellets 99,9 % silver and spare quartz rod. I will try with a silver wire that I have heavy to put in the glass. Do you know if this technique is used to make nebula in galaxy marble or if they use also color borosilicate. Thank for your help. Carol

carolgouyer you can find the wire easily from most online glass retailers. Shipping should be reasonable since it’s so light. You can also order a small diameter quarts rod, 4mm or larger will do. You can use Borosilicate as well, but be careful not to melt the rod that your silver has been attached to. The backing of colored borosilicate is what makes the fuming stand out. Without a dark background, silver fume appears yellowish and wispy.

Dear , I have bought of glass for flameworking. I dont’t find lhe invoice to check if they are 3 good for borosilicate. I only have references on the glasses Z87+RX375B , the second one Z87 147 mm and the last one TORTOISE 51 18-145. How can I check that information? Thank for your help ? Carol

Love my chair! It’s a walker. I removed the handles and added replacement office chair arm rests. The arms are adjustable and really help stabilize my arms against fatigue.

@@BandersnatchGlassJohnson how did you ad the office chair armrests? dude thas friggin brilliant. I've gotta figure out how to keep from having to buy K tank refills every few days and i need my chair setup and ill be good to glow. definitely going to give this a try later when I get off work.

thvbreezeknees thanks! I use the chair for everything I do sitting. I used small cuts of plywood, and some bolts. I had to drill through the metal tubing, but that was pretty straightforward, just important to get them lined up right of course. The pads I use now are from amazon. I searched “replacement desk chair armrest”. Good luck! They are well worth it.

I know this is a really old video, but what kind of ventilation hood would you say to use in a garage this size? And do you just run it out your garage door or?
@BandersnatchGlass

Cody Ponzetti I used one of those 24” industrial fans. Had it screwed into the base of the window in front of where I worked. As long as a door was cracked, it did a great job pulling air. Maybe a bit overkill, definitely loud, but it did the job.

Really nice video and instructions, but it seems like you could just make the piece, domed and all, off the very first punty you put it on. I'll have to try this and then get back to you....my boss and I use a Kobuki so I should have no trouble. It's funny, because literally yesterday or the day before he showed me the technique with prepping the 13/14mm rod with fume...although he puts many more 2/3mm stripes on it and burns off what's left in between before making something.

It worked! Came out fantastic. I did indeed make it off of the first punty after pulling it off the 13mm rod, and I made it a litter flatter and taller with a red background. Was going to make more, but then ran out of oxy. Thanks for making such a great video.

how is your ventilation set up in this video? looks like the garage is just opened half way. do you have any fans running or anything? i currently have a home set up and no ventilation other than an open garage door. do you think this is okay?
@BandersnatchGlass
@BandersnatchGlass 7 жыл бұрын
Infinite consciousness definitely get more ventilation in there! Toxic fumes are no good! I have a large window in front of me with, a shop fan mounted on the windowsill. The garage door being cracked allows a constant flow of fresh air in. Your lungs are worth the investment.
