I would love to see Mephiles come back in a Sonic game. If Sega ever wanted to bring him back, they could do it this way: Due to time and space being constantly manipulated (Sonic 06, Generations, Mania with the phantom ruby, Forces with the Phantom Ruby), they could make it like Flashpoint in a way where he's now a paradox that shouldn't exist.

Given that 06 linked each hero to there own villain (Sonic against Eggman, Shadow against Mephiles, and Silver against Iblis) I would expect Shadow. Just curious.
