This is cool, the amount of silver recovery is nice. 1. Can this be done with lithium computer battery packs that looks like black powder inside? 2. Can it be done with all round button batteries or does it have to have the word silver stamped on it? I tossed out 2 handful of button batteries months ago when they would not dissolve in HCL. It was disappointing for me.

This is the best video I have seen so far. Nicely done Iman. I have about 400lbs of silver oxide watch batteries that I can either send to San Diego and he pays aproximately spot silver price x 1.6 per pound. So for every 1 pound of batteries he pays aproximately $37 at todays spot price which is $23.50 USD per OZ. I'm interested to see how much I would recover per pound. Is it likely to I could recover more than 2 ounces silver per pound of batteires?

Dont really understand how you get only silver when you dissolve it in Nitric acid, why other metals are not dissolved ? Then, when you get a solution with only Ag+ as metallic cation, a simple electrolyze will make your last step much faster.

Just a hobby, not worth while in small scale with energy and material cost plus you would have to pollute or it will cost more to get rid of the chemicals. If you could find a ton of batteries and work in an iron smelter factory maybe. It's better to metal detect for coins and silver jewelry, it will not make you rich either but pays for batteries on sometimes transportation costs. Protect your health!
