great method, but had you simply cut the section of frame between the front hangers and the cab and slid it forward, could have avoided having to move all the suspension, fuel tank, etc. Yes, you have to cut the frame, but the only real issues after are shortening the brake lines and driveshaft which you already had to do. Not knocking the process, just wanted to share an alternative method. EDIT: look up this season of TRUCKS from Spike tv. They did the frame shortening for a shortbed install. Both work well.. Yours saves the frame, but is a lot more work. The other needs frame cut but is a lot easier and keeps all factory mounts. subrscribed for other projects!

Well that’s one way to do this short bed conversion, I did mine at the seam cut the weld and cut it 14 inches shorter and shoved it back in place and wah la , but it seems to me you put a 4 door bed on this truck so it’s a bit shorter looks good nice job 👍🏼

LS4.8 Frank its where the frame connects to the rear of the frame you have to grind the welds and then cut about 14” off of the rear part where you grind the welded part was and then slide it back in and weld it up there is a KZbinr that I found it on you can find it on KZbin I think the channel name was gear head or something like that I found it it’s channel name is “A gear head 4 life “

I thought about doing it this way. Seems alot easier and safer than cutting the frame and rewelding. I don't have a good enough welder to weld frames with. Ddspeedshop did a c10 this same way

After going through the comments, first I gotta say, I think its righteous of you to answer so many of the questions, that's why I subbed your channel. I'm actually shortening a the wheelbase of a 2500hd/454 truck to drop my h3 body on to. This is perfect becsuse my h3 has a 111 inch wheelbase, so I wont have to go quite as far, and I can keep from cutting the frame. Thanks again, GREAT truck build..!

AGearHead4Life thank you. This bed is 10" shorter than the regular shortbed and my wheelbase is about 109". Usually they cut the weld where the two frame sections slide in together right behind the rear wheels (in a longbed) then cut the amount needed and slide it back together and weld it . But since this bed is even shorter that wouldn't work or at least I couldn't figure out how to make it work so I decided to move my axle forward then measure I think it was 4" back from my rear shackle hangers and cut the frame there. This will leave almost your whole frame being the bigger 6" channel which is probably stronger but if you plan on lowering your truck you will have almost no axle clearance so I made my own underbed notch. I did it this way because I was putting a crewcab shortbed. If your putting a regular shortbed I would shorten from the factory split section
