I just received one for Xmas. It won't be going on a gig, but I think it's useful in the practice room. I like it for the secondary process of blowing air along the pads and for keeping the dust off my always on the stand saxes.

In answer to and in support of a comment below; the sax doesn't get full of saliva, it's actually condensation. Saliva only collects around the mouthpiece. The gunge that forms inside the neck and bore, especially inside the bottom bow, are dust and things such as mold, algae and bacteria forming in the humidity, which of course then dries out to a crust in the bow. Drying out the sax helps, leaving it in the case doesn't.

Silverstein is a shame to the saxophone community for promoting this type of snake oil (yes, including their stupid UV light). They should be boycotted.

At 1:06 he says 130,000 RPM. If it were that fast, it would melt in about 1 second. Racing motorcycle engines spin at around 15,000 RPM, so this gadget is over 8 times that fast. An engineering marvel, for sure! :-)

We came across this stat on the Silverstein website and couldn’t help but wonder ourselves! Are they entering Formula 1 soon? 😂 Unfortunately, we’re also unable to count the revolutions-super slow-motion vision isn’t one of our talents.

@@SAXV2 It is 13,000 RPM. Silverstein just copy and paste the spec. from the supplier they chose.

It could be spinning that quickly. Dyson’s Hyperdymium motor spins at up to 125,000 rpm. If Dyson can do it, maybe Silverstein has as well? To be clear, I'm still no way convinced by this Air Swab.......

Like all Silverstein products, this is immensely overpriced. And there's no supposed novel technology this time -- it's just a little hair dryer! A similar item can be had for U.S. $10-20 all over the place. Every hair dryer has the option of blowing cool air.

How is it powered? By an internal rechargeable battery or by standard alkaline disposables or rechargeable external batteries? If so, what size? How long would they last?

Might be worth a try. Although, like a sink or toilet, there's very little that can really get to the U bend on a bari. I have trombone brush but struggles with water key pip inside!
