I found this song years ago on Pandora radio and loved it. At that time in my life, this song specifically helped give me the courage to leave my abusive partner of six years at the time. Silverstein saved my life for writing this I can never express how grateful I am for this 🖤.

I work with women (and also men) in domestic violence situations and hearing this song sparks something in me. They captured something so heart-wrenching and turned it into an incredibly emotional and touching song that has helped people throughout the years realize they are able to escape their abuser and give themselves the chance for a better life. A lot of the time, it's so hard to realize that you're being abused when you're in that situation. People are so used to that being their reality that they can't tell what's truly going on. I truly commend Silverstein for making this song and helping people open their eyes and realize their worth. I wish for more and more people to listen to this song and put themselves first. Forever in love with Silverstein and their art.

Both versions are very emotional and I love it. Music is a form of magic that can make you feel the "magician/artists" conceived way. Instrumentals and others have power they can alter your feelings that is why composers and songwriters are amazing. I love Silverstein.

It's about pill addiction and the struggle associated with trying to love someone who uses and how hard life would be if you had to choose your lover and addiction over your own freedom. And it's Massachusetts most likely because of the generally high rate of opiate abuse in that state. Someone in the band must have known a story like this and inspired the song. "How long can this last, the final straw was the hospital. At least she told herself that, but she just can't find the strength to end it"
