Took my 17 year old son to this show, which just so happened to be the same age I was when the Blue Album came out. They sounded amazing. Thank you, Weezer. It’s a night I will not forget.

One thing I hope comes to light during this tour, is that while Blue is their best album, they have an amazing catalogue music, much of which is post Pinkerton. Maybe they'll never make an album as good as Blue or Pinkerton again, but when you take their body of work since then, they're still unmatched by any band still active
@carlosalvarado2564Ай бұрын
I hate to comment and get crap for this, but they already made an album as good as Blue and Pinkerton, though. Just gets lost in the nostalgia and bs of the fan base. It's amazing how the White album never gets love, even in concerts, despite being easily on par with the first two. Ewbaite isn't far behind either and gets no love. Maybe if the fans pushed Rivers to play songs from these two albums live more often, the older nostalgic fans and the newer fan base would find a whole new appreciation for how good they actually were.
@stuartbarefoot147Ай бұрын
@@carlosalvarado2564 for sure. I wouldn’t put either album quite on par with Blue or Pinkerton, but whenever someone says they haven’t made anything good since the 90’s I always point them to White, EWBAITE and OK Human
@carlosalvarado2564Ай бұрын
@stuartbarefoot147 I can respect that. While I personally think White might be their best album or 2nd best when compared thoroughly. I can respect your opinion because at least you can recognize how good some other albums have been. I've been listening to these guys since '98' when my best friend introduced me to them, and I've never stopped. Yes, they have some bad albums and some mediocre that are inconsistent in the track quality, but they have other albums that are top notch start to finish, but it feels like they themselves don't push the label to play them enough on the radio to reach more people. They also don't play them enough in concerts either. I've been to at least 10+ weezer concerts since '05, and they have a standard set that they rarely rotate and mix in a few other songs. Even when promoting a new album, they rarely play the whole dam album. I think the last album I remember them play every song for was the red album. Even Ewbaite and White, which are miles ahead of red they only played maybe 3 or 4 songs off the albums during the tour for the album. I can find only one live performance of wind in your sails on KZbin, for instance. Then they do shit like combine endless bummer with only in dreams, and both really need the full song played. Endless bummer is a killer closing song to any album. Hell, they still have yet to play run, raven, run in full that I've heard or seen. It's like he's scared people won't come back to another concert if he plays newer stuff, but I think the opposite would happen, and more people would recognize the newer stuff. They have so many good songs over all these years that you could make your own track list equaling 6 or 7 albums easily.

Watching my childhood heros use backing tracks has broken my heart. Is Brian's guitar even on? There are numerous spots with neither player up the neck while someone is shredding. Rivers turns his back to us in shame during the particularly heavy backing. It all feels so inorganic and lifeless. Their live studio session is infinitely better (and real).
@MistaRowlandАй бұрын
1. While I dislike the backing tracks, I’m not noticing any guitar shredding occurring through them. It’s typically for stuff like You Gave Your Love or Getchoo’s synths. Putting guitar parts on backing tracks was a super prevalent issue on the Hella Mega tour (Van Weezer) which had guitar parts which utilized whammy bars while neither Rivers’ nor Brian’s guitars had them lol. 2. The Spotify session has overdubs and pitch-correction so it’s hardly a more genuine article than this show.
