I can’t believe Sears was making these 10 years before Columbus accidentally bumped into America.

This was my first amp in maybe1967 or 68. I remember the overdrive on it well. I had a Teisco tulip, 2 pickup guitar that my mom had bought for me new at the local discount store. I thought it was long gone, but about 4 years ago when we were cleaning out my folks basement... there was the Silvertone under a pile of stuff. I got all emotional and shit...lol. It's nearly dead, it lights up and that's about it. Your video just got me fired up to get it out and take it to get it gone through. I want to hear a decent guitar through it now. I know your video is 6 1/2 years old, but maybe you'll see this... thanks for the video man. Brought back some really nice memories.

Sure man, you ought to find a tech and get it running again, I got one about a year ago and love it.

The oldest 1482s had the round speaker cut-out on the front speaker panel like yours with the later ones having the diamond shape cut out .
@pokeitwithastick786914 күн бұрын
where did you hear this? I've heard the opposite?! ebay ad image search is all over the place people have diamond cut out labled 63-65-66 nobody knows do they-speaker codes no good nor cab they can be parts from year b4 put together-a 65 baffle with 66 speaker ? so...? idk lol
@JohnnyNation14 күн бұрын
@@pokeitwithastick7869 The older ones I've seen listed have the round shape and the one I bought new from Sears circa '69 to '70 was diamond including all the newer ones I saw / those tube Silvertones weren't around much later as the manufacturers all went to solid state/ doesn't matter much anyway as its just a speaker baffle.

Great sounding amp on the clean channel. Would love to play Gimme Shelter through this amp. And around 6:30 you have the KISS "Black Diamond" tone nailed. Thank you!

Yeah I have one that does that exact thing too but no local place to get it fixed which sucks since it was my great grandmothers so has a sentimental value to it to me
@mattier3030 Жыл бұрын
@@thebat6900 It was one of the 6V6 tubes if i recall. Used a tube tester. Was a really easy fix but you need to have the tubes tested to find out what one is bad.

What did you do to make a high gain channel? Smaller input resistor or did you alter more? Thanks -Paul

I have a 1484 and when I was fixing it up I changed the 2nd input on both channels to a 54K metal film resistor instead of the stock 67k carbon. It has a different sound that is grittier. Any modders out there check it out
