@@Sekhar_Home I've actually used another board SIM808 Development Board EvB-3.2. Will test it tomorrow and tell you the results but in advance, the module is very sensible and should be used with a powerful (2A minimum) power supply, you can add capacitors from Vout to ground on the power supply output so it decouples the supply voltage from the module and handles the high frequency high current peaks it needs.
@vfthome-yt Жыл бұрын
@@Sekhar_Home you could also have broken you module if you fed it with incorrect voltage so be careful. Double check aways and have a spare part to test following the correct steps from the beginning.

What were the amperes output of the GSM's capacitor after a new one was soldered altogether ? Since the module has 2A bursts, does that mean I have to make sure the capacitor has 2A output ? I used a 2200uF/16v soldered with the on-board ceramic capacitor and got 1.7A-1.8A readings on my multimeter. Im also considering placing another capacitor onto the supply to make sure I get consistent curents (Im using a 12V 2A adapter connected onto a 5V output stepdown converter as the main supply )

My unit was somehow short-circuited when i connected it to my ESP32 5V output, i connected everything correctly, and it got very-very-hot to the point where a diode (near 5v input) got desoldered and fall off. one thing i noticed is the PCB was cutted too much on iop side, exposing a vias taht were connected to the 5v input diode, is this the cause? So far my exploration into the GSM realm has been quite unsavoury compared to Wi-Fi and LoRa

I'm also can confirm that the mod is working. I had my project connected in a good PSU but accidentally my antenna was unscrewed and the module keep reseting it's self after losing the signal with the GSM network. I changed the cap (477a) with an electrolytic 2200μF 16v (for people they are asking, you need any electrolytic cap from 1000uF to 2200uF at least 6v) and the module just stayed alive even after losing the signal with the GSM net without resetting/rebooting. So this made me think that this is a signal problem and not a power/PSU problem. Thanks for the upload mate, subscribed.

Greetings. I have an sim800l module, which only blinks and never responds. The capacitor to bring the module installed is a 107a that according to is 100uF, do you think that by changing a capacitor of 470uF (which are the ones that I have seen that bring on the board the modules sold in Amazon), the problem is solved? Your problem is NOT the capacitor. I just bought 100 units from China and they ALL work perfectly. Your problem is the Dupont cables that you are using to connect the power pins. They cannot pass 2A even in short bursts. Place the unit in a bread board and use solid core cables and it will work perfectly. By adding a larger capacitor you are adding a larger reservoir which supplies the current, but the problem is still there. Change your cables.

This is the real problem of SIM800L and SIM800L EVB. The solution is adjust the input voltage reading the voltage on VBAT. VBAT is in the possitive capacitor terminal and GND. In the SIMCOM 800L datasheet tell us the range voltage VBAT(simcom chip) 3.4v to 4.4v. you must set the voltage between 4.2v and 4.3v on VBAT. In the case of SIM800L EVB the input voltage is near to 5.2v to 5.3v. So input voltage 5.2v 5.3v while in VBAT 4.2v 4.3v. no more fail.

Have you read manual completely? What about power source? Drops during TX bursts? Is your power source in specs? And what about ripples during TX? Also in the specs? And what about power lines resistance? I see just thin wires and strange connectors? Are you sure that all that stuff is in specs? I bet the module should be soldered into other board not hanging on the connector-ed wires. Replacing capacitor without cleaning all other issues I can see is not proper solution.

Power source is able to put out 10A :) other modules worked without a problem in the same configuration - the difference between those that were OK and not OK was the filtering cap which was not according to the DS . And yes the value of the VCC cap is stated in DS as a minimum value (read the specs first) - so please :) but your things together and in place before - like read the SIM800 datasheet ;) Bu thank you for your comment of invaluable ... value

@@YO3HEX I see you know the things best. I wanted to show others who do not know too deeply what you are talking about that simple replacing tantalum cap with bigger electrolytic it is not solution. By the way I did not asked you to tell me what current your power source can deliver. I just mentioned some parts of datasheet. The most important is how deep drop is made by GSM burst with maximum output power. It is evident that you did not measured it. End even you power source can do 10A it does not mean that it is so fast that it will be with module datasheet specs. Also if your power source will make ripples in the TX period you will have bit BER and the data transfer will be unreliable in the moment you get out of good GSM coverage. Makes no sense to discuss it anymore because you wanted to show simple solution and my question trying to disintegrate its stability. I wish you good luck.

Excelente video muchas gracias ya que el modulo presentaba el mismo problema, el condensador 470 uF no presentaba la capacidad que indicaba la carcasa.
