SimBox - DIY Knob Tutorial

I have a sim racing steering wheel (Cube Controls) that has knobs on it. Can I use the knobs to controls the Fenix A320 heading, altitude, and speed with this software? Thanks

Hi I just purchased the SIMBOX with knob program--I evaluated the cost of printed parts and they are very expensive (I do not have a 3d printer) I am quite comfortable building the switch with off the shelf parts--Most of which i already have. The only question is the push button activated by the rotary encoder outer tube. Is it required to push that button while rotating the tube. Would it be acceptable to surface mount the switch and push it while you are rotating the encoder?

Hi, thank you for your comment. Any of push buttons are actually required. They’ll just won’t work. In almost all aircraft, except airbus, pull functionality is not important. Knob case has 4 holes at the bottom - so it can be mounted anywhere. Contact me in pm here on discord if you’ll have more questions

Why could you not just use a Dual Rotary Encoder?

2 main reasons: - it'll be almost impossible to add "pull" function while using Dual Rotary - Dual Rotary Encoders are not as accessible as Single ones in many countries

I don't believe it. The thing that I, and I think most people, would want to see in the video is how to do the wiring!! I can look at wiring diagrams all day and not understand a thing. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. A visual guide would have been really nice...

I think diagram is much more readable than the video where you have to figure out what goes where. This is standard in this type of projects. Anyway - I will try to make a short video showing the wiring process.

What a monstrosity, about 10 times larger than an actual knobster, either buy a knobster or get dual encoders from propwash, or Leo Bodnar Electronics, just remember to get the knobs from Leo if you go for a dual encoder. Small plastic project boxes can be purchased from eBay or Amazon, or a local electronics parts store. YOU DON'T need a 3D printer, just a project box.

I have tried everything ...Arduino is not connecting. works every once in a while, but then it fails this is a piece of crap! It is now where it belongs on the trash:)

Did you ever get this to work on the Arduino? I'm looking at getting this however it doesn't look like you can demo it on the Arduino before you spend your money on something that may not work for you.

I made my own using different software with a tablet with multiple encoders to change channels.
