Very good coverage. My kind of course! Well done, SMDGP. It is so good to see distances in metres, thank you. I get the feeling your American viewers will now feel as frustrated as we do watching USA productions which constantly use something called "feet".

Very nice production from SMDGP and commentary from the Oakleys. I would very much like to see some more graphics as they throw, though, like what their score is, and how far the hole is (meters/feet) ... Also, if I may suggest, more replays of great shots are always fun to watch, and would be welcomed! That said, very happy for the quick editing and publishing of these videos! Great job! :)

Thank you Knut Einar! It's difficult to balance graphics Vs time. We were very happy with our last graphics package, but making graphics for all the holes, drone and bottom line takes to much of our time I'm afraid. We are only two people doing the editing, as well as filming so we had to make some changes. Now I feel like we have a nice balance of graphics Vs ease of production :)

Thanks for the coverage! I'm intrigued how/who was able to get Ford as a major sponsor of the event. Seems in the states no where near a company of that magnitude is a sponsor of even the biggest events here.
@Mk-of8gh5 жыл бұрын
I believe Ford was a major sponsor for one of the courses that was played at tyyni, Ford discgolfpark (round 2). That probably carried over. As to why, disc golf is majorly increasing popularity in Finland.
@osmoduh5 жыл бұрын
I have heard rumors that some of the marketing or sales representatives at Ford Finland are disc golfers and wanted to support the building of a new course (Ford discgolfpark in Tuusula) a couple years ago. It's a relatively cheap sponsorship for them compared to the positive visibility they get from sponsoring a competitive course.
@Kristofburger5 жыл бұрын
Recreational popularity is indeed key, in Finland it's on an entirely different level compared to the States. So many people are familiar with it, therefore big brands get more out of sponsoring it.

Could we have distance in feet, too? Jomez and CCDG are good to our Finnish friends and put meters on the hole layouts. I can roughly convert between the two, but it would be nice if I didn't need to Google exact conversions. (I know, dumb 'Merican)

He does it by throwing 80+ MPH. His biomechanics are so good that he can generate nearly 70 MPH of speed with what looks like relaxed, casual power. It's awe-inspiring to see in person.

The weather here in Finland can be really unpredictable. Often I am like "according to the forecast it shouldn't rain today" and then I get to the course and while I am waiting for my friends it starts pouring. Luckily it doesn't really matter in summer when it is warm.

I think Lizotte throws that forehand on hole one because he would rather putt over the bunker then have it behind the basket. Either way you throw it that bunker can easily come into play but at least on the right side of it you can run any putt without worry about going OB.

This video has a lot of upvotes, which it certainly deserves for the quality of the camera work. That said, the commentary is mediocre, due mainly to the inclusion of Tina. Some constructive criticism: Good commentary teams have clearly-defined roles. Usually one person serves as the "play by play" commentator, and the other provides "color". The play by play person narrates the action, and throws questions to the color commentator to answer. It's fine for the play by play to know the answers to the questions they're asking. The point is that they fill the role of the viewer, who generally wants information from the (usually) expert color commentator. The commentary in this video is poor because Tina just doesn't have a role to play, and she's not adding anything to the coverage. Most of her commentary amounts to restatements of things Erik has already said (since he's filling both traditional commentary roles), random laughing, or simple platitudes like "you're looking for a birdie here" or "it's a tough spot". Perhaps have her try the role of play by play in future broadcasts. She can throw questions to Erik, who has a ton to say, and she can narrate some of the action as it unfolds. I think it would make for a far better broadcast.
