I watched his interview n that was the first thing that came to my mind. Well he said he still keeps fit and meditate alot. Meditation can do alot of things it slows time. Breath drops heart beat drops body metabolism and digestion drops. Everything drops and brain becomes enhanced.

Some of these musicians innocently used those words as homage, reference or acknowledgement of those great musicians before them.

I think you are right but they still needs to acknowledge them. Especially let them know ahead and then go on and do your thing. If such is done trust me, these icons or whoever the original owners are will not complain as sir Victor is complaining. Even if the original owner not living anymore, still reach out to the family. It shows maximum respect. I think there are some that knows this but avoids it for fear the original creator might ask for a cut, as in his or her own profit. Well why not 🤷♂️. There is nothing wrong about that either.

With all due respect sir, though most of what u said re correct and music stars needs to work harder, but just the single word "joromi" is not enough to sue her under copywrite law, the full body of that single song track is totally different from yours but same cannot be said about tecno and danfo drivers over "jogodo" bcos tecno jogodo actually copied some body of danfo drivers song.

But baba is not entirely saying the truth.Old Juju musicians used to plaguerise each other constantly. Jujus artiste plaguerised each other like crazy, and I ma sure they didnt give a dime to the originators. Also he said Joromi is his invention, but there is a video of a guide in his museum saying that Joromi is actually a folk tale ( he goes on to tell the story of Joromi).

It is not a trademark until you officially and legally make it a trademark. It' a word and except he has legally trademarked it, it's free for all

Dolapo Ogunsanlu very wrong. He used the wrong word. Intellectual property is protected the moment it is created. No registration required
@dolapoogunsanlu68656 жыл бұрын
Seun Idowu, you are partially correct. There are many forms of intellectual property and the one you just described is copy rights which is applicable to music. However, in this case, sir Victor Uwaifo has no case because Simi's arrangement is completely different from his and that's the reason I said he didn't trade mark that word "Joromi". He should go to court. He will LOSE except he's trade marked the word 'Joromi"
@SeunIdowu6 жыл бұрын
I believe he mixed things up a bit but he could still have a case Of he is able to prove that parts of Simi's song are similar to his. I can identify one. If you check the recent case between Robin Thicke and Marvin Gaye's family, the similarity wasn't on all fours...
@davidthegreat29876 жыл бұрын
@@dolapoogunsanlu6865 Joromi the song is copyrighted that is enough.

You might want to enlighten yourself by reading up on the case between the Manu Dibango of Cameroon and Michael Jackson. You might want to further enlighten yourself by going over the case of Marvin Gaye's family Vs Robin Thicke (Blurred Lines). Go get yourself educated and then, come back and delete your rather uninformed comment.

Respect to you sir! You are a legend and you really spoke perfectly on we having singers today rather than musicians. I even feel they are less than 5%. As regards Joromi, just the use of that name is plagiarism? I really do not see the similarities in the 2 songs aside the use of the name. Will you also sue someone for naming his son Joromi? Maybe I'm missing something, cos I don't get.

Joromi is not even a Brand not to talk of becoming Trade Mark. i dont think this man really Know what is saying. Joromi can even be a Name of Any Person, Animal, Place or anything.

Copyright protection does not extend to title of songs. This is because they are mostly short do not fall under the realm of creative originality. However, if it was a hit like "Joromi" was, it then could be classified as a trademark. As such, be protected against unsolicited completion in the guidelines of a trademark law. A simple request for permission by Simi could have sufficed; then again, it is sometimes hard for honest permission seekers to be granted permission.
