I think you are missing the point that they both are accomplished actors and do interviews for a living. The two people sitting here are portraying how their love was too intense to know any bounds. That they were a 'team' against the world, and that marital status was a needless inconvenience. They are grown-ass adults in their 30s and 40s and they still don't have regrets or apologies for how they may have treated or hurt others, or worse had embarrassed or dragged them in public. They are just full of their own sob story. In Bollywood, I think Saif was probably the most dignified. He too could've found solace in someone's arms, but instead, he divorced, fought bitterly by Amrita, and only then began dating. PS: I can tell you from experience no one will treat you better than a married man, and no one will love you more intensely than someone else's husband. It's a male thing I guess. I too fell for it, but thankfully I had the sense to call it off. If your marriage is not working well then maybe you should address that first. In my case, I come from an academic background, and I was mortified by the thought of how will I face my family and friends. Lastly, if left on their own accord almost all men will go back to their marriages. Although why would a wife accept such a person back in life is a matter of individual preference I think. Anyways, if Sarika had done that, trust me Kamal would be sitting with Vani for this interview. As respectable as Sarika is, and as sad as her life story was, no one's heart bled for her, when Kamal cheated on her to end the marriage. For that matter, even her kids continued to live with their father. Moral of the story: Marriage may or may not have problems, but the availability of another astoundingly pretty woman certainly makes it look like an inconvenience to most men, who are of this kind.

Sarika's mother was an abusive, toxic narcissist from whom she escaped with nothing at the age 20. The mother stole all the money Sarika made working from 4 years till 20. When she married Kamal Hassan, she traded one authoritarian narcissist for another, which culminated in her attempted suicide & eventual divorce. God gave her beauty, but did not give her love or peace.

Such taboo, polarising topics being discussed by stars in a candid manner without any judgement by the interviewer is absolutely a rare site to see today. People just want absolute perfection on their screen these days. Really such a real conversation and questions posed by simmiji were quite intelligent! That's right... He was a fairytale and once fallen to him, one can't get out of it... But one thing is clear, he also said it himself, that he couldn't love anything or anyone more than cinema as he was an eager young man, learning & inventing new things in this field & it is the reason he couldn't hold on to the relationship...

Sarika speaks so well, so refined. A certain aloofness in spite of sitting so close. She must have felt betrayed and deeply hurt as a child that's why she was not afraid to stay alone in a car at 21, may be by then her heart had already gone cold and nothing mattered, even when she was pregnant and off to London she didn't want any commitment from him, very strange. Her eyes convey loneliness and a deep knowing of life's bitter lessons learnt and purpose lost. Beauty is a curse, it gets attention from all corners, never giving an opportunity to make true friends, more often than not a beautiful princess is left paddling her boat alone.

I'm well aware of them separating many years ago. And yes I was saddened for them and their gorgeous children. However, watching this interview just devastated me!!! It's different to hear about separation and divorce or any demise of a relationship, but then to observe the wonderment of a blossoming union and how these two overcame all obstacles to help their love for each other flourish.....but then to have this same love vanish into thin air (as they say - where did the love go??) it shatters me. And what I loved even more, was that they both admitted as to how wrong it was for them to even consider a romantic relationship, seeing as Kamal was married. I just wish things could have worked out better for them. I mean they had been through so much together. Thank you once again, our dearest Simi, for a remarkable interview with Kamal & Sarika. You and your show Rendezvous are incomparable. You have an amazing knack for enabling the stars to open up to you with such sincerity. My favourites are your interviews with Rekha, Zeenat Aman, Sushmita Sen, Jayalalithaa, Raveena Tandon, Hema Malini & now, Kamal & Sarika. Can't wait to watch the ones with Jackie Shroff, Hrithik & Susanne and Zayed Khan. I would LOVE it if there was some way that you could perhaps convince Sridevi Kapoor to appear on your show too, as she is known to be extremely shy & introverted. Srideviji is my ultimate idol. I think this the only Bollywood interview I have watched till the end. The absolute truth about it leaves an eerie feeling. I practically had goosebumps. I am not sure what Iam speaking is right ,but at that time kamals first wife wrote that she is sure that he will not remain in this marriage too. In 2022 when I look back what his first wife said become true . I think he was in to two more relations too.

My comment came more from the fact that she resent KH after he ditched her for another lady. Imagine the plight of the wife - while her husband is announcing that he is the father of a child ! He should have got separated before getting involved with another person. He is guilty, I don't deny. But is it too much to ask - don't be the reason for someone's misery while you also cannot handle such misery? Or do we want conveniently blame the other person - 'Hey, question the man. Woman was single' while being fully aware that men like him ( there are quite a few in the industry) always have low morale?
