Welcome to our first example which will use AA Similarity to find the length of an unknown side. This problem is a set-up which contains two parallel lines which means we can find equal angles! I show you the correct way to search for angles, set up your ratio and solve for the unknown side length. I also show you a very common but INCORRECT way to solve this problem. Make sure your ratios involve sides of the triangle, not just PARTS of a side!!
Always remember to maintain good problem-solving habits (set up a variable, stay organized and WRITE NEATLY).
