Totally agree on preteens! I see each life stage as the following age ranges: Newborn = 0 - 5mo Infant = 6mo - 1 Toddler = 2 - 5 Child = 6 - 9 Teen = 15 - 19 Young Adult = 20 - 29 Adult = 30 - 59 Elder = 60 - ~95 We need that 10 - 14 stage to fill things out!

Totally agree preteens would be amazing, my dream would also be to add a little kid ages 4-6, the jump from toddler to child seems so big to me! And a super elder, they look like theyre in their 90s, suuper wrinkled, suuper small and hunched over. Ugh it would be the best

I agree, we need those inbetween stages of young child and pre-teen. There is a pre-teen mod which works pretty well (if you can ignore the slightly awkward animations) but it'd be good to be able to have it without a mod, and the younger child too. I play with MCC and set very long life spans (12 week calendar, 3 weeks per season (mod) so 1 year is 84 days and then make the life span ages match as close to real life as possible) and when you have a sim that's supposed to be 4 years old look like they're 8 or 9 it's rather jarring

I used to have the same artwork issue on vanilla builds. I went on the gallery and saved a BUNCH of cc free artwork to my library and it makes a HUGE difference. A lot of them fit perfectly in those basegame saxophone paintings with move objects so you can even give them a custom fancier frame than the basic black default one. I even use them in my cc builds because there is so much good stuff on there

I LOVE this build Simlicy! & can I just say I miss your presence in the community ❤ as another mom of 2 & wife supporting her hubby (with a kid that has a bday in the same week as Christmas 😮‍💨) I understand the need to pull back, and totally respect it! Preteens and more elder game play would be 😚👌 Imagine if they came out with garage bands and preteens?? That’s the pack I want: TS4 Garage Band! Garage decor and a drum kit?? I can agree that pre teens would be nice to have as an in between for children and teens but I also don't want to relive my preteen years in the sims 😂

Always so happy when you share your builds ❤️ And about the preteens -- I don't like the idea, I would love for the teens to actually look like teens though lol I think the problem is that they are too close to adults, in Sims 2 for example the difference was pretty much clearer

My nephews used to love to dress up too. My sister and her ex-husband used to go out and buy halloween costumes right after halloween because that's when they're on sale for super cheap. They're perfect for dressing up and the kids loved it.

i see kids as being like 7-10, but i agree it'd be nice to get another life stage. i dont know what it would look like game-play wise, maybe more teen-locked activities open up for them? or they could start going to school dances? but even if it was just as simple as half way thru the kid life span the type of school changes, like the first half theyre in elementary school and the second half theyre in middle school. because i agree with you, i see teens as being 15-18 (because they can start getting jobs...) and kids are a hard cap at 10 in my eyes. thats a huge developmental jump

I tried building in a similar way but my mind doesn’t work like that 😂 I build from the inside out. I would love to build as you do to get the unique floor plans to work with..

I think I'm more of a builder, maybe I should make a regular sims playthrough for a shake up, so I'm not really focused on the age stages. Did you know the dentures in the glass from the bathroom kit has a swatch with braces ?

I really want preteens. I have a teenage son and a preteen daughter. I love making rooms for preteens where I put a few toys in there, but then some makeup. My daughter is going through the phase where she is slowly growing out of dolls, still plays with Barbies, but loves doing play makeup. I think they would miss out on a great opportunity if they don’t add preteens. It’s such a fun age. I love this home and I do not build enough in Windenburg.

YESSSSSS preteens, just the quirky stage between child and teen. But if we ever don't get preteens, I at least want the Teens we already have to be younger or ig shorter? Just look more different than young adults in game.

I’d also love preteens. They’d really be great if you’re creating a family with a lot of kids. Sometimes I play some kids as preteens. I decorate their room a certain way and make them do activities that someone between the ages of eleven and twelve would do. It works great until the game has them autonomously do something like spill flour on the floor, lol

I agree with you on pre-teens. It is such an important developmental year and could offer so much gameplay. Also, TS4 is the ONLY Sims game to not add a lifestage or add new gameplay for a lifestage (I don't count Infants, they are just what we should have had with babies)

I picture the kids in the game as like 10/11 years old, 5th grade or so. So if anything, I would rather them be called pre-teens, and then make new "kids" that look between toddler and what we currently have.

Preteens wouldn't solve the gap. Teen starts from 13. So you'd have, what, 10-12 (covering mostly 3 years) which tbh can be the children. Which still leaves you with the 13-16/18 gap (covering up to 6 years). Your typical rebellious 14 year-old would be nowhwere still. This would have never been a problem if they did proper teens the first time, like we had in Sims 2 for example. But now they can't go back on it, since the highschool theme is for THESE old teens and what content would you have for younger looking teens? The teens are, by far, their biggest shortcut since it all came down to animation costs and the change has NO benefit whatsoever for any player.
