1:18 Snare and kick drum sampled from Some like it hot by the Power Station, I presume.

It sounds very similar, really.

Do the type of pads matter with this brain? Are there special dynamics in the 2000 pads?

Not at all. SDS 2000 has some small advantages over sds7 (midi), but it is completely digital and I´m more in favor of analog sounds. It´s known among Simmons collectors as "the little SDX" because it contains some sounds from the Simmons SDX library. Although both machines can not be compared at all. Some interesting kits (20 in total), but the SDS7 is much more creative in what sounds are concerned. Of course, you can find a sds 2000 on EBAY at a much more reasonable price than an sds7.

I have a few albums that use the Simmons e.g. Gondwanaland's album 'Gondwanaland' from 1987 and Martika's 'Martika' from 1988.

I never liked digital samples a la Linn drum. Simmons is Simmons but to me its story stops to the hybrid sds 9. Viva the analogue! However you got a pretty awesome collection of vintage gear.

Yes, I agree, (although I love the sounds of Linn drum). But yes, I prefer the analogue equipment of Simmons, SDS3, SDSV, SDS7, SDS8, SDS 9 (analog toms), etc ... But SDS2000 has some interesting sounds taken from the SDX library.

Well I think sdx is maybe the only one you have not... Or do you??? ;-) lucky guy in anyway!

SDX is not the only Simmons piece I haven´t. Claptraps, Suitcase, hundred series (200,400, 800), SDS 1000, SDS6, MTX 9 (Although I had one), TMI, SPM 8:2, Silicon mallet, TURTLE TRAP, ... But hey, I can´t complain. :)

WIRECOOLEY I would just long for the SdsV that to me is the first love (I remember Jarre and Rockets were the first to intensely show and use it - R J Burgess was not really playing it though he co-designed the Sds5 prototype).
