Thanks for posting this - we were car 189, our first ever event, sadly didn’t make it to the top of Simms but cleared all the other hills. Huge thanks to the marshals and all at MCC for putting on a great event. And of course thank you to all the spectators who braved the cold to watch - at least we had a heater in the car. 🥶

I have one and never got stuck in the mud. Almost all of those who got a hard time climbing was because the driver kept the wheel spinning after loosing grip.

​@fishshipempoyee1273 My first car in '88 was a '72 1200, I also worked as a tractor driver in orchards, I took my Beetle in them orchards, and razzed around in the mud occasionally 😅, i never got stuck either. 6 yrs later I was living in a VW Bay panel van,parking on the top of a pebble bank at the beach ,the amount of cars that tried driving up and got stuck was hilarious, even 4x4 's ,always giving it too much welly and digging in 😂 .

classic example of 'the photo doesn't show how steep it is' - I'm a believer in that. The cars are sliding back down with all 4 wheels locked. If I were at the drawing board, I'd be trying to come up with a drivetrain that would detect slipping and respond with an instant reduction in wheel rpm, and I'd also try a suspension geometry that would move the whole wheel assembly forward (or backward?) or even laterally (probably inward for more weight) to see if that might help. Also, an instant reduction in air pressure in the tire might help. Needed would be a mechanism to return the pressure as soon as traction is regained. Could each wheel get a weight to accelerate up or down for traction.... I knew a guy back in the day who rigged cat litter feeds to each tire, big hopper in each fender and a cable pull system, for dealing with snow. We were skiers and nothing was going to stop us from reaching the ski hills when we wanted it. It absolutely worked, got us past all manner of other vehicles. Train engineers used to feed tiny amounts of sand to the rails just in front of engine wheels for grades on which overloaded trains couldn't get going because the drive wheels would just uselessly spin.

I’d love it if they had a sticker or graphic stating the tires being used. It seems to be a major factor as the bugs do well or fail like others I don’t think every case is driver error.

One clarification: If the differential is limited to being of the 'open' design, then you don't have 2wd. If the vehicle can be purchased w/ a limited-slip, why couldn't that car participate? It's OEM! Oh well, not important, enjoyed the video. The motorcycles ruled the hill, yea!!

Sometimes even open differentials will spin both tires if the grip is equal on both sides. It could have had a welded diff though.

First time watching a video like this well apparently this is for a two-wheel drive most with limited slip don't really see much of a challenge for the motorcycles I'm guessing something four-wheel drive are that's had its engine modified are qualified for this considering I could probably get up this in my 02 Dodge Dakota four-wheel drive but the thrill of trying to get up it seems to be somewhat enticing it would probably be an event I would enjoy after a couple beers
